The interesting thing about Skyrim. Is that the gameworld more or less carries on regardless of what you do. NPCs get up in the morning, go to their jobs, stand about chatting, get killed by wild animals, go to bed, all without influence from the player. My other problem with a lot of horror films is their tendency to rely on ever more extreme and gratuitous gore, replacing any element of fear with plain revulsion. Films with a supernatural twist tend to be more enticing to me, but are still often let down by a magical combination of bad writing, daft plot, and crummy acting. Why, then, do I so enjoy playing games that make me scream like a child and physically sob with fear? I remember playing the Shalebridge Cradle section of Thief: Deadly Shadows.
