Digging up the Earth: "Real" British food...
http://www.jbrown.org/2006/02/real-british-food.html
Digging up the Earth. Saturday, February 04, 2006. The Tyee has been running a series of columns called Living on the Hundred Mile Diet. For about 8 months now. It's written by a Vancouver couple, both writers, who are trying to eat nothing but food grown within 100 miles of the Lower Mainland for a year. It's not that outrageous of a proposition when you think about it - but perhaps not so easy in practice. A bit of this:. One of this guy's fish - (better act quick - only two left! Some of these (mmmmm):.

Digging up the Earth: Raging against Facebookdom – the return of the Blog
http://www.jbrown.org/2007/06/raging-against-facebookdom-return-of.html
Digging up the Earth. Monday, June 25, 2007. Raging against Facebookdom the return of the Blog. The siren call of Facebook is proving hard to resist. I found myself hunched over an old high school yearbook photo on Facebook last night, reading messages from people I barely remember, and before I knew it, an hour had gone by. Posted by Jenny @ 12:01 AM. View my complete profile. Who says Canadian culture is boring? Gung Hay Fat Choy! Welcome to my blog. Christian (A.K.A. my old man).

Digging up the Earth: We got married! Again!
http://www.jbrown.org/2006/02/we-got-married-again.html
Digging up the Earth. Wednesday, February 15, 2006. Christian and I enjoyed our final wedding celebration this past weekend in London. We both had a great time. We had all of Christian's family and friends (and a few friends and family of mine) to a beautiful pub/restaurant in our neighbourhood, for champagne, a big lunch, and some speeches and good times. Christian's Oncle Bernard attempts to put his nametag on his head. 12 hours later, we were still going strong (or at least my family was, anyway!

Digging up the Earth. Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Veering into self-absorbed territory here, but does anyone else find making new friends after the age of 30something really difficult and awkward? Digging up the Earth: Nerdy book club?
http://www.jbrown.org/2006/01/nerdy-book-club.html
Digging up the Earth. Tuesday, January 31, 2006. I don't know about you guys, but I've been really crap on the reading front these days. Last year I managed to tear through quite a few books, but this year.there've been a lot of magazines and newspapers, even the odd bridal mag (! So I'll kick things off. Last year's hands-down fave was Middlesex. Bloody brilliant) by Jeffrey Eugenides. Thanks to JB and Shaker for that suggestion. Miriam Toews' A Complicated Kindness. Posted by Jenny @ 3:45 PM. Digging up the Earth: Les Miserables
http://www.jbrown.org/2007/06/les-miserables.html
Digging up the Earth. Monday, June 25, 2007. Back from the battle of the Somme, I mean, the Glastonbury Festival. I have now apparently attended the two worst Glastos on record and would still go back again. Why? Musical highlights Rufus Wainwright Canada’s finest showman, in full Liza Minnelli-style drag, Arcade Fire, Canada’s finest apocalyptic rock band, (who isn’t a little bit in love with them all, especially the ginger one that plays drums on his own head? Eventually broke my spirit. By Sunday ...

Digging up the Earth: Welcome to my blog....
http://www.jbrown.org/2006/01/welcome-to-my-blog.html
Digging up the Earth. Saturday, January 28, 2006. Welcome to my blog. Erm, welcome to my blog. I used to make fun of blogs. I once swore that I'd never even *date* someone with a blog. Well, I've changed my tune on both, even marrying. A blogging nerd last month. A writer named Ross Laird. Who taught a brilliant writing workshop I recently took at SFU. I no longer think blogs are weird - they're a pretty cool way to get your random ideas into the world. Dig-up-the-Earth and eat-your-carrots-and-together-...

Digging up the Earth: Gung Hay Fat Choy!
http://www.jbrown.org/2006/01/gung-hay-fat-choy.html
Digging up the Earth. Monday, January 30, 2006. Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Year of the Dog, everyone. I went to Chinatown today with Jenny L. and a few of her friends for some very fun Dim Sum and Hot Chinese New Year parade action. I even ate a chicken foot! At the end of the meal we made some modern art with the very strange red-bean dessert. Check out my inukshuk: (which was lost on everyone at the table - a Singaporean, Glaswegian, South African, Colombian, and a few Limey-Canadians). Welcome to my blog.
