These lighthouse photos were all taken at twilight or during the night. Several different techniques were used to display a few special effects. These timed exposures range from 23 seconds up to 1 minute and 7 seconds. The clouds help to lighten up the scenes. Churches can contain many interesting subjects to photograph. These photographs are from the Saint Mary's in the Mountains Catholic Church of Virginia City, Nevada.

Some of the greatest scenery can be found in the National Parks. It is fortunate that these areas have been preserved. There are over 100 National Parks and Monuments, ranging from the mountainous west to the plains of the midwest and the coastline of the east. In this section there are photographs from my visits.

This old silver mining town has several interesting attractions. Located in the mountains southeast of Reno, the city offers many buildings and locations pertinent to the local history. Here are several photographs of St. Mary's in the Mountains, a Catholic church founded in 1862.

Way Points: Tamarack Flat to El Capitan
http://randyswaypoints.blogspot.com/2013/07/tamarack-flat-to-el-capitan.html
A random collection of day hiking trips, meanderings, musings, and other distractions from the maelstrom that is modern life. Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Tamarack Flat to El Capitan. View east from El Capitan. It seems that there is always another awesome hike to be discovered around Yosemite Valley beckoning a hiker’s spirit to get boots on the ground. If Half Dome. Is the most iconic feature of Yosemite Valley, then the runner up for that honor must (arguably). Be mighty El Capitan. Name for the rock is.
Way Points: Red, White, & Blue and Trilliums too

A random collection of day hiking trips, meanderings, musings, and other distractions from the maelstrom that is modern life. Sunday, March 3, 2013. Red, White, and Blue and Trilliums too. Mule deer graze at Edgewood Park. Who first coined the phrase "red, white, and blue" describe the first early season blooms, almost as though nature was doing a little flag waving. Or more specifically, Indian warrior. And hound’s tongue. Of July. I’ve also been enjoying seeking out fetid adders tongue. Lovely trillium...
Way Points: Foresta Hike
http://randyswaypoints.blogspot.com/2012/07/foresta-hike.html
A random collection of day hiking trips, meanderings, musings, and other distractions from the maelstrom that is modern life. Saturday, July 28, 2012. View from the Foresta Trail. I was feeling a little harried when the first day of my Sierra trip got off to a lousy start. Sometimes things just go a little awry, but still turn out alright. It's the law of averages. I had made a reservation for a campsite at Crane Flat. For one night only. I could not set up camp at Tuolumne. View to Mt Clark. Recovery is...
Way Points: Eagle Peak (with light show)
http://randyswaypoints.blogspot.com/2009/05/eagle-peak-with-light-show.html
A random collection of day hiking trips, meanderings, musings, and other distractions from the maelstrom that is modern life. Thursday, May 28, 2009. Up early again after a days rest we had plans to hike the Yosemite Falls Trail. Up to the north rim. We wanted to visit the top of the falls, but our real destination was Eagle Peak, and time permitting, on to El Capitan. Eagle Peak is part of the jagged formation probably better know as the Three Brothers. Falls where all the spray is we were getting pelte...
Way Points: Point Lost
http://randyswaypoints.blogspot.com/2011/09/point-lost.html
A random collection of day hiking trips, meanderings, musings, and other distractions from the maelstrom that is modern life. Friday, September 30, 2011. Panorama of "Point Lost". I was perusing Every Trail last Friday evening trying to decide where I might satisfy my wander lust the following morning, when I happened across a guide. Posted by username alpharomero on a hike he did to Butano Ridge in Pescadero Creek. Natural tar deposits in Tarwater Creek. To see my track log at Every Trail.

Way Points: Late Winter Roaming
http://randyswaypoints.blogspot.com/2013/02/late-winter-roaming.html
A random collection of day hiking trips, meanderings, musings, and other distractions from the maelstrom that is modern life. Sunday, February 10, 2013. The falls at Big Basin. I could not make an exact ID, but I think they are Mourning Doves ( Zenaida macroura. Fetid Adder's Tongue (Scoliopus bigelovii). Last year about this time I remember reading this post. From Katie on the Nature ID blog about finding fetid adder’s tongue. I went back there this year searching in both Portola. Could those be band-ta...

A random collection of day hiking trips, meanderings, musings, and other distractions from the maelstrom that is modern life. Monday, September 3, 2012. 20 Lakes Basin; Inyo National Forest. Looking north across Saddlebag Lake. Just beyond the eastern boundary of Yosemite lies the Inyo National Forest. And Ansel Adams Wilderness. South end of Saddlebag Lake. Like the previous day on my trip to Mt Dana, I got a beautiful clear day with mild sunshine; nearly perfect conditions. The trailhead I was usin...
