The Jefferson Depot Village. In the Beginning…. On August 4, 1872, the first passenger train steamed into the Village of Jefferson, the County Seat of Ashtabula County. The last scheduled stop occurred in August, 1956. The express office closed in 1960 and the freight office closed in 1961. We Moved the 1860 former Post Office / Grocery Store from. 1204 Mechanicsville Road, in Austinburg Township, to the Historic 19th Century Jefferson Depot Village!
