Outdoor Dog: October 2009
http://heyingblog.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Taking a leap of faith. Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Praying For His Intercession. Last summer I began work on documentary about the life and actions of Fr. Emil Kapaun. Kapaun, who was ordained a priest in Wichita in 1940, went on to do extraordinary things while serving as an Army Chaplain during the Korean War. Kapaun died while being held in a North Korean POW camp in May of 1951. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Take a Sniff at some of these. More Than Meets The Eye.
Outdoor Dog: August 2010
http://heyingblog.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Taking a leap of faith. Sunday, August 15, 2010. True Dreams. Of Wichita". Photographed the Dave Matthews Band in Wichita on Saturday night. Not really music I'm all that familiar with, but from the standpoint of a newspaper photographer, it was one of the most photo-friendly shows ever. First three songs like always, but they play some loooong songs. Like this one. Converted some of my stuff to black and white and I'm kind of digging it. Good show. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Outdoor Dog: Chase(ing) A Dream
http://heyingblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/chaseing-dream.html
Taking a leap of faith. Saturday, April 3, 2010. This is Chase Kear. I've blogged about him before because he was part of a pretty big project I did last year. Chase nearly died on October 2, 2008 while practicing the pole vault at Hutchinson Community College. He bumped his head. Hard. Chase had a large portion of his skull removed to relieve pressure on his swelling brain. His doctors gave him little hope, and that would be putting it mildly. Were on hand to cheer him on. They're good people.

Outdoor Dog: What Happens In Vegas, Stays In Vegas. And Then Eventually Show Up On A Blog
http://heyingblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/what-happens-in-vegas-stays-in-vegas.html
Taking a leap of faith. Thursday, April 15, 2010. What Happens In Vegas, Stays In Vegas. And Then Eventually Show Up On A Blog. Spent a few days in Vegas this week with reporter Roy Wenzl to work on a story. Hadn't been there in nearly 10 years. Hardly looked like the same place. My stay in no way resembled the movie "The Hangover" except. Fun with slanted windows. I'm not a gambler. At all. I played $1 in a penny slot machine, and it wasn't even my dollar. At the end, I couldn't bear to lose...Cary Cono...
Outdoor Dog: The Last Stand
http://heyingblog.blogspot.com/2010/06/last-stand.html
Taking a leap of faith. Saturday, June 19, 2010. Many historians have attempted to tackle what happened to Gen. George Armstrong Custer. And his 7th Cavalry soldiers on June 25, 1876. Recently, author Nathaniel Philbrick. Wrote about the topic in the new book "The Last Stand.". Two things about this book are interesting: Philbrick's prior writings have focused on maritime history in the New England area. "Mayflower". Was a Pulitzer finalist for non-fiction and "In the Heart of the Sea". Initial attack on...
Outdoor Dog: December 2009
http://heyingblog.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Taking a leap of faith. Monday, December 14, 2009. Despite my constant worrying no one would show up, last night's premier of my first-ever documentary "The Miracle of Father Kapaun". Fifteen minutes before showtime, the auditorium was starting to fill up fast. The Bishop of the Diocese of Wichita, Michael Jackels, jokes with Chase Kear, one of the main subjects of the documentary. Me and the star. Friday, December 11, 2009. Probably Not Gonna Have A Red Carpet. In those 5 boxes were 1000 of these. This ...
