Jeffles In Japan

Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Sorry to have left you all stranded in the cold, erm, 5 months ago. If you want a reason, I'm sorry, but I can only offer a sad excuse. You see, I was approximately two months away from leaving Japan for good and I just couldn't find it in my heart to continue writing about Japan. It felt wrong. Especially when the majority of things I wanted to write about were things that had nothing to do with Japan. And clearly, this was not the place to do that. That's all, folks. You ma...

Jeffles In Japan: December 2011

http://www.jefflesinjapan.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 16, 2011. I'm back for post numba 2! First, an update. My lack of heat has been very thankfully solved. Turns out that the gas was off for some reason and, to fix it, all I had to do was press a button. Which was, of course, the only button on the gas box. *headdesk* There was, apparently, no need to suffer through three days of winter camping inside my own house. Hot showers are awesome. That's all I'm sayin. Another update: I finally (FINALLY! Posted another video on youtube. Here's a ...

Jeffles In Japan: Golden Weeking

http://www.jefflesinjapan.blogspot.com/2012/04/golden-weeking.html

Thursday, April 26, 2012. Today, as you probably know, it is April 26th. That may not mean much to you, but it certainly means something to me. And what it means is this:. Golden Week is coming. Very soon, in fact. It will arrive in TWO DAYS. That's right, you heard me. Two. Days. If today is Thursday, then Golden Week will be here on what day? Come on now, say it with me. Saturday. You get a Gold Star! What is Golden Week, you ask? For the second part of golden week. It's an incredibly gorgeous isla...

Jeffles In Japan: What's in a Name?

http://www.jefflesinjapan.blogspot.com/2012/04/whats-in-name.html

Saturday, April 21, 2012. What's in a Name? So, the last post was kind of a non-post and I feel like I should make up for it. So here you go, have a Japan story. One of the by-products of teaching English in a small community in Japan is that you tend to be around kids a lot. And when you're around kids a lot, it is inevitable that you are also going to be around their parents at some point. Because kids and parents go together like. like two things that go really well together. Thinking she was just exc...

Jeffles In Japan: January 2012

http://www.jefflesinjapan.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 26, 2012. Attack Of The (Killer? The flu has come. The season has arrived. And are we ready for it? On the one hand, Japan seems to take this stuff seriously. Every day at the office/teacher's room, I overhear phone call after phone call talking about influenza. For weeks, teachers have been asking me, "How are you feeling? Anyway, strange hygenic practices aside, it's certainly been somewhat interesting to be in Japan during a flu outbreak. Unfortunately for me, I have also become ...

Jeffles In Japan: Golden Week: Part 1

http://www.jefflesinjapan.blogspot.com/2012/05/golden-week-part-1.html

Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Golden Week: Part 1. This post is rather long. Also early, because I won't be able to write a post tomorrow. I do it because I love you. 3). It's now halfway through Golden Week and I feel like I'm just getting going. Hard to believe, really, when I consider just how much has happened since last Friday. Once in the great city of Okayama, the merriment began. The plan was this: First, we would find a place to consume foods. Second, we would acquire the liquid beverages necessar...

Not Enough Cheese: Let's Go!

http://artslondon.blogspot.com/2012/07/lets-go.html

Nani o Shimashita Ka? Artslondon goes to Japan. Wednesday, 25 July 2012. No time for blog updates recently. That’s because I’ve been frantically busy as I prepare to leave Japan. On Saturday I will be taking the shinkansen up to Tokyo. There, I have 4 days to wallow in nostalgia and stuff myself senseless before boarding my British Airways flight back to London. I’m ready to go. Ikimasho….Let’s go! 31 August 2012 at 15:13. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Final Visit To Hiroshima. Words of a Melody.

Not Enough Cheese: December 2007

http://artslondon.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Nani o Shimashita Ka? Artslondon goes to Japan. Friday, 28 December 2007. A Fine Establishment Takes The Piss Out Of Its Punters. Going to see stand up comedy is one of our favourite ways to waste an evening. And we like. Which is a shame, because, for a while now, we’ve been planning to write a piece about how much we like Banana Cabaret, but if they’re liable to take the piss out of their customers then all we can really say is that we recommend you take your business elsewhere. Not Enough Cheese: Forever Delayed

http://artslondon.blogspot.com/2012/07/forever-delayed.html

Nani o Shimashita Ka? Artslondon goes to Japan. Wednesday, 18 July 2012. What a few weeks it has been. Too busy to update but filled with a mixture of stress, fun stuff and seriously awesome stuff. So now that we're back from this very romantic stay in the mountains where it was just the two of us, idyllic and romantic. I thought I should post the following song, for no obvious reason. Not Enough Cheese: February 2008

http://artslondon.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Nani o Shimashita Ka? Artslondon goes to Japan. Thursday, 7 February 2008. A report on our visit to the Estorick Collection is forthcoming. 1 We want to sing the love of danger, the habit of energy and rashness. 2 The essential elements of our poetry will be courage, audacity and revolt. 3 Literature has up to now magnified pensive immobility, ecstasy and slumber. We want to exalt movements of aggression, feverish sleeplessness, the double march, the perilous leap, the slap and the blow with the fist.

Not Enough Cheese: Rain that lasts for 24 hours

http://artslondon.blogspot.com/2012/06/rain-that-lasts-for-24-hours.html

Nani o Shimashita Ka? Artslondon goes to Japan. Tuesday, 19 June 2012. Rain that lasts for 24 hours. No love of science-fiction or knowledge of the previous films is required. I’ve also rented My Neighbour Totoro from Tsutaya. I sometimes feel that I’m the only person in Japan who hasn’t seen it. I’m doing my research Ghibli-wise as we will soon be visiting the Studio Ghibli museum near Tokyo and I want to know a bit more about the films before I go. I’m not gonna be running tonight…. Dont Mention The War.

Nani o Shimashita Ka? Artslondon goes to Japan. Monday, 25 June 2012. A Trip Round The Islands - Shodoshima. We climbed a gorge and made moody poses! Or the Brick Lane Beigel Bake. Sic) but it filled a hole nonetheless. We made the wise decision to rent a car, which gave us a lot of freedom over the weekend and meant we could do some cool drives along the coast and pretend we were in Thelma and Louise. I was Thelma of course, because K Chan never lets me be Louise. We also took a drive along the coast to...

It's particularly loved by so many people, probably because it has such a wide variety of exhibits that there's something there to please everyone. However, the museum's lack of focus and its inability to properly define just what it is a museum of exactly, can sometimes grate. Nevertheless, we quite like the attitude of simply.
