The Power of Games. January 31, 2008. I work part time in a computer repair shop. This is on top of school, outside projects and having a romantic relationship. It’s no wonder that sleep is near the bottom of my list of things to get done in a day. I’m just always amazed at the power that play has over our everyday lives. Agile ARG Development: Phases. January 29, 2008. Each phase of the ARG consists of four parts. Introduction of new characters and/or organizations. What the resulting updates are. The p...

Entropy as a display of Time. July 7, 2008. I came across this article through Digg. About a physicist’s theory on the multiverse, the big bang and entropy. I find it to be extremely fascinating and actually had a little tie in to game design. Sean Carroll, the physicist being interviewed in the article, talks about entropy. Specifically one thing he said stuck in my head. Don’t like that, not just game players in general. You are currently browsing the tragicgeek. Blog archives for July, 2008.

Questions I’ve been getting. March 8, 2008. Since my last post, I’ve been getting lots of questions from people regarding what the project is. I thought I should put up a post answering some of the more common questions. What is Project Loyola? Project Loyola is an ARG created by me and fellow students to document the ARG development process. We originally decided to create an ARG because of an interest in massive multi-player cooperative game mechanics (that’s a mouthful). An ARG is an A. If you want so...
The Launch of an MMO from a Player’s Perspective. | tragicgeek

The Launch of an MMO from a Player’s Perspective. The advantage, however, of getting in at launch is that you are there from the start. You are able to see content before it becomes outdated. A player starting WoW at this point in time will probably never run any of the content for level 60 characters because they will be in the Outlands, where item drops and experience gain are much better than the old 10 and 25 man raids. Clay Kisko’s blog – Game theory, Game projects, and my 2 cents about the game industry. May 11, 2008 in Game Design. A team of 4 including me were presented with a design challenge the other day in class:. Make a game using note cards but push the system to unbalanced proportions by raising the numbers of the formula in the systems to a ridiculous degree. Oh and design this in an hour. What could our aesthetic be? What better aesthetic then playing overpowered super heroes with a lust for fame. The final...

Game Project: Two Kings | 2KingS

Clay Kisko’s blog – Game theory, Game projects, and my 2 cents about the game industry. Game Project: Two Kings. April 16, 2008 in Game Design. Over the years plenty of games have asked players to kill kings: Checkers, Chess, Age of Empires, Civilization. Well I just ask the player to conquer two, and keep their crowns as long as possible. Two Kings is a competitive card game that will take strategy and a good memory of their opponents card hands to win. Comments feed for this article.
