Life and what goes in to it...: December 2008
http://lifeandwhatgoesintoit.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Friday, 26 December 2008. Wow, I've not been on here for ages. (such is the curse of facebook! Since I was last here, so much has happened. My wife has given birth again, this time to a baby boy, named Judah Luke. . I've had a vasectomy. Very Scary and still quite painful despite it being over 3 weeks since it happened. Should I be getting worried? I've finally joined the cycle team and have a firm resolve to lose weight in the New Year. I'll update further another time as I need to go to bed.

Life and what goes in to it...: July 2008

Thursday, 31 July 2008. Josh was a stranger when we met. . He was just someone who would lend a listening ear when I needed it. . He would reassure me when necessary and offer a gentle rebuke when required and slowly this stranger became a great friend. I still hardly knew him though. . I would lean on him when I needed to but so often I’d ignore his calls, letting the answer machine get them and later, deleting them, tell myself that if it were important, he’d call back. As it turns out, the laws in ...

Sunday, February 28, 2010. An End to Ethical Living? Anyway, a new boss has meant new impetus and last week, the batteries were replaced. Since then the power hasn’t tripped once, even though it’s been a very rainy week. We’ve got a security light on all night now, which is a relief after we found an intruder last month. Not that I’m complaining. The biggest bonus will be being able to ‘afford’ electricity to keep our laptop charged at all times so we can teach our staff some vital ...Let’s, for no...

Monday, March 22, 2010. Thank you for flying Rwandair! Just back from spending a couple of quiet, relaxing days in Kigali, more of which later. However, I had to quickly mention a couple of details about the journey. Having decided to treat ourselves and avoid the perils of the notorious Kapala-Kigali Road, we turned up for Rwandair flight WB106 to find that in fact we had really only swapped one deadly vehicle for a shipping container with wings. The image was completed when the attendant finished givin...

Saturday, June 19, 2010. Coming ‘Home’. With a month to go til we fly back to the UK after our two years in Uganda I find myself drawing comparisons between the two cultures and, if I’m honest, feeling the brokenness and mess of my homeland, even in with comparison with some of the disfunctionality of the East African World. I know it’s not something new, but the futility and the sense of something so beautiful and nice in life being trampled like this just depresses me so much. This time at least. Thurs...

Monday, May 17, 2010. Meanwhile, down on the farm. Two significant milestones in my farming experience last month. Neither of them of much consequence but both moments that will not be quickly forgotten and definitely left their mark, so to speak. I got a good bruise up the back of my leg but otherwise no lasting damage. However, I’m not sure how swift I will be to perform any more castrations in the near future. Ooo', and if you will, 'arr'. Saturday, July 03, 2010. 10 Things I'll miss. In a sort of 'top ten' format, this is really not an exhaustive list. I've just been looking through a few of my photos and appreciating some features of my life over the last 2 years. In three weeks I'll be back in the UK. 7 Cool front garden. It's pretty neat having a football pitch for a front garden. Keeping the grass short is a bit of a 'bind' though! 6 Goats around the house. I love it when I drive up to our house to find that our garden has been se...

Friday, January 29, 2010. Africa Highs, Africa Lows. I suspect I am not the only foreigner living in here who experiences the conflicting emotions associated with life in Uganda. It truly is a case of fluctuating between the sublime and the ridiculous. Without giving specific examples sometimes the good seems very good and the bad seems terrible and there’s not a lot in between. Sort of the opposite of the kind of banality and normality you sometimes feel living in the UK. Also this week we could have...

Wednesday, 13 February 2008. I've just started a new blog. (find it here: http:/ life-of-worship.blogspot.com. The idea is that worship leaders from all around can add posts related to leading a life of worship, practical worship leading/songwriting tips, biblical insight, song lyrics, etc. Basically the idea is to share experience and thoughts with each other. I've still got to work out an easier way of adding people to allow them to add posts though. Monday, 11 February 2008. I have set goals. Thursday...
