My view of the world from a height of 5ft. 16in. 2005 to 2014. Saturday, May 26, 2007. Finally, after many years of thinking and talking about it, we set out from the Paugan Dam and headed north towards Lac Ste. Marie. We knew we'd only get part-way there before having to turn around but we wanted to discover this area of the Gatineau river and were curious to see how may islands were "kayak-camping" friendly. Paddling in this "reservoir" is an easy opportunity to get away from civilisation for a few hou...

My view of the world from a height of 5ft. 16in. 2005 to 2014. Monday, April 30, 2007. First Kayak Outing of the Year! Perfect "ING" weekend on April 21st and 22nd: BikING, HikING and KayakING. Put-in: Lac Leamy, main-parking lot near Reno Depot. Not the best shoreline: rocky, abrubt, brushes. Would have been better near the main beach but the entrance at Greber was still blocked (until end of thaw cycle). Posted by Marc Charron at 8:18 PM. Chrismar's Sea Kayaking Maps. My view of the world from a height of 5ft. 16in. 2005 to 2014. Sunday, June 10, 2007. Once you've paddled half-way to Lac Ste-Marie from the Paugan Dam, what's next? What else than paddling half-way back, this time from Lac Ste-Marie towards the Paugan Dam :). Four of us headed out in yet another perfect day: blue sky, calm winds, hot weather (but not too humid). My view of the world from a height of 5ft. 16in. 2005 to 2014. Saturday, August 25, 2007. Three days and 2 nights of rustic kayak-camping at l'Equerre camping at the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park. See post below for link to SEPAQ site describing this jewel of a park. You can clearly see the "7" shaped river in the top left corner of the map below. The following view with contour lines shows just how steep and narrow the valley really is. And here is a Google Earth view from l'Equerre.

My view of the world from a height of 5ft. 16in. 2005 to 2014. Tuesday, July 17, 2007. 7th and 8th Kayak Outing. Scaled back on the kayaking due to my wife's injured wrist. Looks like tendonitis of sorts from too much biking and kayaking early in the season :-(. Took two short paddles around the Belcourt Island at Blue Sea lake last week, once with my sister-in-law, the other time with my youngest daughter :-). See map below (from 3rd Kayak Outing). My view of the world from a height of 5ft. 16in. 2005 to 2014. Sunday, August 27, 2006. Kayaking on the Saguenay Fjord in Quebec. The picture below shows a GPS plot (irregular white line) from our departure at L'Anse-St-Jean to our arrival at Baie Ste-Catherine (near Tadoussac). The expedition was provided by Fjord-en-Kayak. Our guide on this trip was Wade and his assistant was Marie-Anick. Snowshoeing Monts...
