London plane nesting tables. Curved pippy oak desk. London plane nesting tables. Pair of nesting tables in London plane with sycamore drawer interior. The very striking timber comes from the 200-year-old London plane. That I milled and air-dried. Back in 2010, which had grown a very short distance from the clients' house. The dark 'lacewood' flecks are exposed when the wood is deliberately quartersawn at a tangent to the heart of the tree. The insides of the drawers, though, are in English sycamore.

Curved pippy oak desk. Plinth for Dulwich Picture Gallery in solid English walnut. This large piece of furniture is on public display at Dulwich Picture Gallery, a Grade II*-listed building in South London by the architect and collector John Soane, which was England's first purpose-built public art gallery when it opened in 1814. It was commissioned by the director and curator as a plinth for a fine model of the building by Rosalind Hudson. It's built in solid English walnut.

The furniture I design and make is inspired by the 19th century Arts and Crafts movement. That doesn’t mean it’s reproduction kitsch or a pastiche of Victorian style. Instead, it endeavours to follow the principles laid down by this group of designers, thinkers and political radicals. The movement had its roots in the ideas of the critic and artist John Ruskin. And in the teachings and work of his follower William Morris. Design should be respectful of vernacular traditions and craft skills.

I have survived from all odds, challenges, opportunities and even the kind of people who I do not wish to face at different places.
