Alexis A. Hunter. Inyë ólëa ata — I Dream Again. Published Works Art Gallery. October 15, 2014. Alexis A. Hunter. Yesterday, a pretty neat new site launched for writers and readers. It’s called QuarterReads. The premise is simple: authors upload their works and readers pay 25 cents to read whatever story piques their interest. Authors get a majority of that 25 cents, and there’s also a tip jar for each story, with 100% of those tips going to the author. 8220;Into Poseidon’s Arms”. 8220;Dying Mother”.

Godspeed, @Gamerstable | Dice Upon A Time
https://diceuponatime.wordpress.com/2017/01/10/godspeed-gamerstable/comment-page-1
Dice Upon A Time. January 10, 2017. It is the end of an era. After 300 episodes, today is Lastday. Carousel begins. Gamerstable, in its weekly incarnation, breathes its last. As a farewell salute I open the floor to Gamerstable’s own, Shannon, who will share with us her Last Writes. Tacos and pizza and polish sausage and sauerkraut, and like an absurd amount of all it. And I definitely need some ice cream to top it all off. This one is tough, if it’s just a single book I would say. And so, the Best Damn ...

Longsword v Katana | Dice Upon A Time
https://diceuponatime.wordpress.com/2016/11/15/longsword-v-katana
Dice Upon A Time. November 15, 2016. I had a discussion with a young man yesterday about which sword was superior the European Longsword or Japanese Katana. It’s a common topic among sword aficionados. Both weapons have their pros and cons, but I certainly have a preference. Now that my son is older he has taken up the longsword as well and after many years away from serious study, it’s felt good to be back to training. Guard and Defense: Longsword. Again, the longsword is the clear champion here. Th...

Fantastic Fourth | Dice Upon A Time
https://diceuponatime.wordpress.com/2016/12/15/fantastic-fourth
Dice Upon A Time. December 15, 2016. I’ve got a confession to make: I’ve been revisiting D&D’s 4th Edition lately and I’m starting to think I may have given it a bad rap. Here’s the deal: I started playing Dungeons and Dragons in 1978. I drifted from original flavor to extra crispy and settled into 2nd Edition for pretty much the long haul. The thing that made me turn my nose up to 4th edition was, primarily, the demand for miniature play and we just never played that way. Ever. So now, here I am, lookin...

Rough excerpts from the Occult Detective RPG Core Book | Dice Upon A Time

Dice Upon A Time. Rough excerpts from the Occult Detective RPG Core Book. September 30, 2016. The small Midwestern city of Wabash lies north of the river that shares its name, nestled between two man-made reservoirs. Before the white man came, the land was sacred to the Potawatomi and Miami Indians and the area is still infused with the mystic energies that first drew native tribes to it. There are four types of characters one is apt to run into in an OCCULT DETECTIVE. 8216;Attributed to some force beyon...

The DM’s Oath | Dice Upon A Time
https://diceuponatime.wordpress.com/2017/01/01/the-dms-oath
Dice Upon A Time. The DM’s Oath. January 1, 2017. You’d think that with a new year dawning and all it would be apropos to have the first post of 2017 be light and positive. Well, that. The plan until I saw this “DM’s Oath” floating around facebook. I could ignore it. I could look away and pretend it doesn’t exist, but where’s the fun in that? Let’s dissect this thing, shall we? I will run the game, not the players or their characters. On the surface, this isn’t. Poppycock. If you sit down at my table...

The Shadow of the Past | Dice Upon A Time
https://diceuponatime.wordpress.com/2017/01/05/the-shadow-of-the-past
Dice Upon A Time. The Shadow of the Past. January 5, 2017. Four years ago today, on the 5th of January in 2013, a group of friends came together for a game of Dungeons and Dragons. This was no ordinary gathering. These now balding and graying men had once, years before, slung dice together as teenagers and young adults, but those days were now a part of a shadowy past. It was supposed to be a one-time reunion, but it has turned into a monthly game now for four years running. It’s been amazing r...Fill in...
