Founded in 1972 by Bill Jekel, one of the first growers to see Monterey’s potential for wine excellence, Jekel Vineyards released its first vintage (a Johannesburg Riesling) in 1978 and continues to be recognized as a pioneer in Monterey winemaking. Bill’s tireless passion for winemaking and all things Monterey led to Monterey’s designation as a American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 1984, literally putting Monterey on the winemaking map.

The Arroyo Seco influence can be seen in this classically structured Cabernet Sauvignon. This violet-hued wine has a medium to full body with a lingering finish. Its components of Malbec and Petit Verdot bring deep color, texture, and complexity to this wine. Influenced by the cool climate of Monterey, the Jekel Riesling is a wine of balanced acidy and weight. Flavors of peaches and lemons linger well into the finish. This wine is medium-dry according to the International Riesling Foundation scale.
