Liminal Me: 2011.11
http://liminalme.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Nothing like kicking around an empty tortilla bag to break a girl's pride. Another blog in response! Posted a great sounding recipe for enchiladas. And I tried them tonight with, as she proposes, "anything you like" tossed in. Well I found myself with a festival squash. A red pepper, a can of black beans, and a bunch of cilantro. And by golly, they were soooo delicious. Here's what I did and what you can do if you want to recreate what I did:. In a large bowl, mix together:. 1/2 cup cottage cheese. Cover...

Canadiana, now comes in Rocco. Rocco at his seat in the throng of 400 new Canadians sworn in at the Italian Cultural Centre in Vancouver yesterday. Rocco flanked by the presiding judge who granted him citizenship and the Mountie in red serge who oversaw the ceremony. And my own accomplishment yesterday, besides pulling off a wicked surprise, is that I wore these stunning shoes all morning and managed to not look disabled. Double hooray! Links to this post. Liminal Me: Vegas trip!
http://liminalme.blogspot.com/2012/07/vegas-trip.html
Amazing girls, Dawn, Stacie, and Diedre, whisked me away to Vegas to celebrate submitting my dissertation and many years of friendship. If this is the start of an annual girls' trip, I am SO IN! And here are a few of the best shots as still photos so you can linger over them. :-). Whos the hottie in the bud hat? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Blog About What? Back in the kitchen! I'm so glad my little sister is blogging! She keeps feeding me new recipes to try, and passing on great blogs and other items she has found along her blogging travels. I was most impressed to see her listing interesting workshops happening in the Lethbridge area and pointing her readers to local independent businesses where you can buy food products you can feel good feeding to your friends and family. Thanks for the tip, Katho. Links to this post. Art in the streets. Also, this is amazing:. You might th...

Liminal Me: Comedy Break!
http://liminalme.blogspot.com/2012/03/comedy-break.html
I took a comedy break from thesis work this afternoon, and now you should too. This dude, Myq Kaplan (pronounced Mike, of course), is quite funny. And not only because he uses my name in this bit. After taking a little abuse about not posting enough, I triumphantly return with a little time waster. Check out Harto on Youtube. She's relatively hilarious. She likes to drink, and she's not picky about what she's drinking. She also likes to cook. She MOST likes to combine the two. The result is her minor intertubes sensation, My Drunk Kitchen. Episode 10: Poutine, in which Harto visits New York of the North, licks gravy from her laptop and mocks our noble moose. Links to this post. A Blog About What?

Liminal Me: Things I like to put in my mouth
http://liminalme.blogspot.com/2012/02/things-i-like-to-put-in-my-mouth.html
Things I like to put in my mouth. Stop thinking that, you dirty buggers! A couple years ago I got Healthy Bread In 5 Minutes A Day. By Jeff Hertzberg and Zoe Francois out of the library. They have a terrific system that is very, very like the No Knead. Bread craze that's been sweeping the system lately (also see Katie's great post. Decent. But for some reason I waned off it pretty quickly, only trying 4 or 5 recipes from the healthy book and their original book, Artisan Breads In 5 Minutes A Day. When Ro...

I've stumbled across yet another beautiful food blog, vegetarian and whole grain focused. She also worked for years as a bartender, and the recipes I've read on her site for fancy cocktails could turn any one of us into a foo-foo sippin' fool. If you have a minute, check out Cookie and Kate. I strongly suggest reading her healthful recipes, but if you only have a second then start at her fresh cherry chocolate cake. Omg (picture by Kate). Liminal Me: Back in the kitchen! With collard rolls
http://liminalme.blogspot.com/2012/07/back-in-kitchen-with-collard-rolls.html
Back in the kitchen! I'm so delighted to be getting back to some of the activities I love that I really didn't have time for while finishing my thesis. I'm cooking again, we're getting a CSA box every week, and it's so fun to be challenged by the random veggies we receive in the box. And leeks. Yum! I apologise for the crap quality of my photos! 8 or so collard leaves. 1 cup ricotta (light is fine). 1 egg, beaten. 1/4 cup walnuts, ground fine in a blender. Place the rolled packets in a greased baking dis...

Quickie, shorty, baby. Many of you don't know her, but one of my very closest friends in Vancouver had her first baby today! Miranda (ok, you might know her as Jen K) brought a baby boy out of her body into the world. I have no more details, but I have sooooo much excitement and happiness for her, Mike, and David! Jen's going to be an amazing mom. Just you wait and see! Oh, AND you'll get to meet them all at the wedding in August! So many babies will be there. Tarrooo tarray! Links to this post.
