Posted in Life as a Mommy. We sat in the booth, enjoying a rare dinner out together. But Troy kept looking over to his left. After a while, Troy voiced his confusion. “The kids are sitting at a different table? I turned to look. He was correct – there was a large group sitting at two tables, one full of adults and the other kids. I looked over at the two tables, then back to my beautiful son. “I don’t know, Troy. I don’t know.”. Dear First Year Teachers,. Posted in Fifth Grade. Dear First Year Teachers,.

What I’m Loving Wednesday 7.22.15. Life as a Mommy. Troy’s version of American Ninja Warrior – Even if it left my couch more broken and bruises on Troy’s legs! Purple Pens (I need to buy a new box of them for the new school year! I know it isn’t the highest quality acting or story, but I love it anyway. This was my first time using a staple gun and it was so fun! It probably helped that my projects were successful! Waking up to this crafty mess! Friends – Especially nerdy and weird friends! A Writer’s Notebook. Posted in Life of a Book Hoarder. I just finished another great read by Ralph Fletcher,. Breathing In Breathing Out: Keeping a Writer’s Notebook. It had nothing to do with the Inquiry that I was supposed to be doing, but I couldn’t help it. I wanted to finish. I admire Ralph Fletcher’s writing (. And his ability to teach writing strategies (. A quick read with insight into a writer’s notebook, it filled me with ideas. I have some of these things in my notebook? Why do I do this?
To Craft or Not to Craft | jenniebblog

To Craft or Not to Craft. I’ve been reading a lot of advice for new teachers and I keep reading warnings about themes and Pinterest classrooms. The common idea seems to be these take time and detract from the important things – like curriculum and student learning. I don’t make a bunch of anchor charts. I don’t label the kids’ lockers. They make those. But, I do craft my heart out. This year’s theme…Travel. So, my point is there need to be two warnings…one for new teachers and one for school leaders.

Thursday, July 30, 2015. Today was our district mentor training PD, where a new group of teacher leaders made the choice to give the gift of their time and talents to the betterment of the education profession. They became official mentors! About 20 D100 teachers came to the training today so that they could help a teacher begin their profession with support.
