The Middle East: I Know It's There Somewhere: Readings From The Square Moon

http://jenniewiley.blogspot.com/2009/12/readings-from-square-moon.html

Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Readings From The Square Moon. I really loved reading these stories.  I love supernatural type stories so reading these two was a lot of fun for me.  I especially enjoyed The Metallic Crocodile, which succeeded in creeping me out as I walked to my class in the dark right after reading it! December 5, 2009 at 2:22 PM. Maybe bungie jumping just doesnt appeal to you. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Middle East: I Know It's There Somewhere. View my complete profile.

Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Does My Head Look Big In This? And then one of the boys in my group yelled out to her "What the hell? 160;It's summer, what are you wearing? 160;Our group leader told him to be quiet, and he proceeded to whisper to all of us, "she looks like a clown."  . 160;But now I wonder if on top of that she might have experienced a moment of pride for representing her faith and enduring the torment of those who do not understand it. The Middle East: I Know It's There Somewhere: November 2009

http://jenniewiley.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 30, 2009. The whole film was so powerful.  To see this beautiful and intelligent woman being brought to her knees by the cruelty of men was terrible, but it was interesting to think that the same things are being done in our own country.  Domestic violence here plays a similar role in demeaning women in the US.  . 160;I think I would be just as lost and terrified about moving on.  What else would I know to do? Best film we have watched in this class, great pick group! Year of the Elephant.

Middle East Interpretations: "9 Parts of Desire" WMU Performance

http://middleeastinterpretations.blogspot.com/2009/09/9-parts-of-desire-wmu-performance.html

Saturday, September 26, 2009. 9 Parts of Desire" WMU Performance. Last night I attended WMU's performance of Heather Raffo. I thought the WMU actresses did a remarkable job. Obviously they had made a careful study of the situation of women in Iraq, worked hard on their accents and characterizations, and I found their performances compelling. There will be performances. Next week as well. After each performance there is an opportunity to talk with the actors. Buy your tickets. This play sounds awesome!

Thursday, October 1, 2009. In George Herbert's science fiction novel, Dune. A character declares, "He who controls the spice controls the universe."
