Thursday, Aug 5 2010. Tom keeps our backyard bird feeder filled with sunflower seeds. The birds (and squirrels) push seed out and it falls to the ground under the feeder. He noticed some were sprouting and we decided to leave them alone. We have a gorgeous patch of “accidental” sunflowers right in the middle of our backyard. Spring…can it REALLY be coming? Tuesday, Apr 6 2010. Tom couldn’t resist planting several yellow pansies. We’re hoping they don’t succumb to harsh weather. Sarah cut daffodils from her yard blooms and brought these for our Easter dinner. Marcia brought the little mums that look like daisies. I’ll plant them as soon as I think they can survive. Farewell to my beloved Petra. Tuesday, May 18 2010. Petra, age 15 years and 9 months, is now buried in our backyard. Tom and I both cried as we stood by her at the vets. The house seems way too silent and I still expect to see her rounding a corner, meowing for something, climbing on my lap to snuggle. She was loved so much by so many of us. Sunday, Apr 24 2011. Tom and I celebrated our second anniversary today with an exchange of cards, two church services (granddaughter Hannah was baptized at the second one), and a lunch at Red Lobster. We were married on Easter Sunday, 2009 (April 12). We’re going to a bed and breakfast Tuesday night—the last of this year’s celebrating: http:/ www.bbonline.com/mi/quigleysloghome/index.html. Two good years together. Then we’re getting ready to be snowbirds. Florida/Michigan. Thanks be to God for this life.
