Bethanie Murguia: Sketchpad: Looking Back, Looking Ahead
http://bethaniemurguia.blogspot.com/2014/11/looking-back-looking-ahead.html
Thursday, November 6, 2014. Looking Back, Looking Ahead. I did an interview for Yellow Brick Road. A newsletter for parents, teachers and librarians that is edited by Joy Mosher, a professor at SUNY Cortland. I’ve been meaning to share it since its publication, and, well…here we are in November. But, my. Tardiness aside, Joy’s questions were insightful and probing, and I loved sharing many (MANY) thoughts about picture books. If you’re interested, that link is here. Diesel, Larkspur Landing, between 12:0...

Sunday, March 31, 2013. The beauty of my job. Is that I can spend hours doing this and legitimately call it work. The house is overflowing with colorful snails in anticipation of events for SNIPPET. I'll be posting my Bay Area schedule soon. Tuesday, March 12, 2013. A Snail is Born. Today is the official publication date for SNIPPET THE EARLY RISER, my new picture book. The reviews so far have been very positive, including a fun review from Michael Ian Black in this week's New York Times. It was abundant...

Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Bologna, Bamboo, Bookworms, and More. Along with my non-virtual spring cleaning, I'm realizing it's time to dust the cobwebs off the blog as well. I've been cocooned in my studio making books and pictures. I did find my way out to visit the Bologna Children's Book Fair, which was mind boggling in all of the best ways. See photos below of my two purchases from the show. First, Mare. Second, how could I resist Il Piccolo Teatro di Rebecca. In August, I Feel Five. Will be published ...

Bethanie Murguia: Sketchpad: October 2012
http://bethaniemurguia.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 1, 2012. September was filled with plenty of firsts:. 1 We have our first terrarium in the house, and in a strange case of life imitating art (since my next picture book is about a family of snails), the girls wanted to have snails. We now have three of them. We also had one temporary tenant: a caterpillar that became a moth and fluttered off into the September sky. 2 First look at ZOE'S ROOM! 5 First listen to the music for the SNIPPET trailer from my brother. 6 First visit to Safari West.

The artist, the art | nicole berner kauffman

A writer's blog. The artist, the art. May 16, 2016. May 17, 2016. I’ve been a huge Woody Allen fan ever since my parents took me to see Hannah and Her Sisters in the theater in 1986. I had never seen a movie quite like it, and I watched all the Woody Allen movies I could after that. Broadway Danny Rose and Crimes and Misdemeanors are up there with my all-time top picks. I even hung a portrait of Woody in my high school locker. That said, I don’t feel the same way about writers who give advice. I rece...

From diary to writer’s notebook | nicole berner kauffman
https://nicolebernerkauffman.wordpress.com/2016/04/25/from-diary-to-writers-notebook
A writer's blog. From diary to writer’s notebook. April 25, 2016. April 25, 2016. I cringe when I hear someone talk about journaling, or when I learn someone has died and left behind a diary full of intimate details. The thing is, I never actually wrote anything real about myself, probably in part because I had no idea who I was or wanted to be. I just wrote what I wanted someone else to read, and I wanted to sound cool. I have tried to write about my feelings since then, but it always seems so self-indu...
