Life on Prescott Avenue: September 2012
http://lifeonprescottavenue.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 14, 2012. It Has a Story. We were in the middle of a budget meeting. Troy and I. We've learned that if we do not sit down and discuss our budget and financial plans once a month, one or both of us decide that we can spend more than we have. As we were crunching the numbers, we realized God had blessed us with more than we had anticipated. So the question arose, "Do we use it responsibly? Or do we use it for pleasure? I flippantly said, "Well, we could buy my solitaire.". Yes, you will!

Life on Prescott Avenue: January 2014
http://lifeonprescottavenue.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Yesterday, during my prayer time, I asked God to open my eyes to His work around me. To let me see what He was doing so that I could join in. . Within the last 24 hours, I have been made aware of TWO miraculous acts of healing God has orchestrated. These two prayer requests have been on my lips and heart for the past few weeks. . This reminds me of something I read from The Message last week, "In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do.".

I'm not going to make a list of all the ones I like so as not to be the stumbling block Paul wrote about in First Corinthians. But you will probably figure out the genre (and possibly the list) by the description I write. Do I encourage those who are struggling? Unfortunately, I often find myself thinking, "Sucks to be you.". Maybe, I like the ability to legally stalk these characters thr...

Life on Prescott Avenue: August 2013

Tuesday, August 13, 2013. The Calm After the Storm. About 24 hours ago, I started feeling it. The black cloud. The same black cloud I've felt/seen so many times in my 43 years. The black cloud of anxiety, doubt, hopelessness, self-loathing. I felt it coming, like the thunder and lightening that proceeds the downpour. The warning signs were flashing and vibrating all around my thoughts yesterday. You're not following God's will. With thoughts like that, how can you call yourself a Christian? I thought abo...

Life on Prescott Avenue: November 2013
http://lifeonprescottavenue.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 14, 2013. My five senses are on overload. Actually, my sixth sense (if that's the one that feels God's presence) is working at high speed too. I've peeled and cored enough apples to fill two crock pots in anticipation of applesauce in about 8 hours. I can still smell their harvest sweetness on my hands. A lit candle, so sweetly given to me by a friend, is filling the house with an aroma that fills my thoughts with all things autumn. Monday, November 4, 2013. Im Fine, Really. Before you...

Sunday, March 16, 2014. Confessions of a Pastor's Wife. This blog post may be the first of a series of posts I write concerning the secret thoughts of a pastor's wife. On the scale of "scandalous-ness", these confessions are quite mild. But on the scale of "that's not how a pastor's wife is supposed to think and act", they might be off the chart. But I should have. But here is the most embarrassing confession:. It wasn't that I didn't want to visit. I just literally was having a hard time focusing an...

Life on Prescott Avenue: December 2012

Monday, December 31, 2012. That's How We Roll. My back is achy. My legs are crying out for a break today, but no such break is coming. (Except for this mini-break taken to write this post.). I mentioned the bedroom furniture to Troy in passing. But much like Ralphie in The Christmas Story, I was plotting the perfect time to make a plea. Only Troy and I could spontaneously decided to pack two weeks of home improvement into 48 hours. We are the Wilsons. That's how we roll. Friday, December 28, 2012. This y...
