Saturday, January 18, 2014. A Coastal New Year. If Christmas is supposed to be the most wonderful day of the year, then you can imagine how the rest of Christmas break went for me. I was tired. I was sad. I was a little angry. Vacation was almost over, and it hadn’t really felt like a vacation. My husband and oldest threw the football. My daughter and I built a sand castle. And then they too wanted to play with new friends. So we struck up a conversation with another family of five. A Coastal New Year.

Monday, October 13, 2014. It grew from the ground. Like any normal tree. Yet, it didn't grow straight. Up toward the sun like most trees. It followed the stone path. Along the way it paused. For another turn. Then. It reached for the sky. For all its twists and turns,. It didn't have the smoothest bark. It had scrapes and knicks. Why. In one spot there was a hole. Clear through the trunk! Look at the leaves up top. And you'd never know the trunk. Was so mangled. Yet,. The trunk was where the tree's.
