Stories and photos from the Canadian Rockies. Looking west from South Baldy, Kananskis Country. Site Pages - Info and Maps. Sunday, 5 June 2011. Jeez those new paddles are hard work! They catch so much water; I got up this morning with aching chest and arm muscles. I did the Ghost Dam to Cochrane run. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Stories and photos from the Canadian Rockies. Looking west from South Baldy, Kananskis Country. Site Pages - Info and Maps. Sunday, 19 December 2010. Here's a picture from the opening weekend of CADS. The fall was most notable for the paddling that we got done; we started trying out our boat on whitewater, after a much-needed practice session getting ferries and eddies sorted, on Glenmore Reservoir. We then had some great trips on the Kananaskis River. The Bow between Banff and Canmore. Offering some loc...

Stories and photos from the Canadian Rockies. Looking west from South Baldy, Kananskis Country. Site Pages - Info and Maps. Sunday, 18 September 2011. This is a great double-track ride that allows you to get a good look at Gibraltar Mtn. It's only an hour or so from Calgary, and is pretty quiet. Take spare clothes, as you have to ford the river and its tributaries many times during the day. The ride is described in Doug Eastcott's guide to the Canadian Rockies. Stories and photos from the Canadian Rockies. Looking west from South Baldy, Kananskis Country. Site Pages - Info and Maps. Sunday, 26 June 2011. Cooking: Back to basics. Our house is a bit of a tip right now. Bags and barrels spilling their contents on every floor, canoe upturned in the yard to avoid the rain, midway through repairs/upgrades, and the dehydrator is going full-time. The Paull River trip is just a week away! Not having to constantly ration the fuel, and worry about running out. View my com...

Beyond the Skyline: A little closer
http://joedfilms.blogspot.com/2011/05/little-closer.html
Stories and photos from the Canadian Rockies. Looking west from South Baldy, Kananskis Country. Site Pages - Info and Maps. Tuesday, 17 May 2011. I agonised over fishing rods. There was one for $20 that might have done the job, but then I noticed that the kids' rods next it (fluorescent orange and green plastic) were $10, and decided that there must be a catch (forgive the pun). We've spent all evening talking about dehydrated food (and whether a whisky platypus looks a bit desperate). Six weeks to go.

We managed a couple of trips the weekend before last - a day on the lower Kan and another on the Castle Junction to Banff.
