The Medusa Doll is a manifestation of characters that appear or are hidden in my work somewhat often. Two sides of the same coin, they embody a topsy-turvy doll, which became popular during productions of Uncle Toms Cabin. I have always loved the symmetry between characters who interact so directly, yet are opposites: without each other, they would each cease to exist. I did go on to write the Medusa Doll as a one-woman puppet show. I failed to perform it because, as it turned out, I'm not an actress.

I have been spinning yarn and wrapping it slowly, meditatively around these roots. I have been bandaging them, or have I been mummifying them? Have I been hoping to help it to heal, or have I been preparing it for it's eternal rest? Or was I simply altering it for selfish aesthetic purposes?
