The central tenet of Penny’s work is hand-thrown stoneware pottery, concentrating on the simple forms and textures of traditional functional ware. Penny’s glazes vary from frosty greens to rich blues; subject also to the unpredictable results of reduction firing in a gas kiln. Penny has a studio at her home in Berkshire.

From the Kiln is a group of local potters who have joined forces to open a pop up shop in the centre of Maidenhead. There is a great variety of work on display from sculptural pieces through to functional pots and decorative work. The shop is open twice a year, once in the summer and again in the run up to Christmas, the opening dates and times can be found on the Where to Find.
