Discovering life as I move from country to country. Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Well, it wouldn't be news that I am no good at taking time out for myself. I'm often more worried about getting things done, what's the next big thing that I need to complete, who needs a babysitter.and the list goes on. Judging by the tone of the question.I'm thinking that it is. So apart from making sure I get my 1 hr a week, I'm working on taking a bit more notice as to why I am me. Monday, April 07, 2008. Saturday rolled rou...

Discovering life as I move from country to country. Monday, January 19, 2009. Today I received, what I think, is a beautiful quote from Jonathan. Cooking is a language through which all the following properties may be expressed: harmony, creativity, happiness, beauty, poetry, complexity, magic, humour, provocation and culture.". And this is why I do what I do. It is by no means a glamorous profession but I wouldn't trade it for the world! Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Xmas/New Year/Life as it is. Stupid, I ...

Vous dites que je suis hérétique. Cela est-il permis? Tuesday, July 08, 2008. In what ways do I need to slow down? What inward disciplines of 'slow' do I need to cultivate? What outer disciplines of 'slow' do I need to consider taking up? Use the stairs instead of the lift. Don't just jump in the car - ask yourself; Am I in a hurry? Can I walk there? Can I use public transport to get there? Cook twice as much and freeze the extras to use at other times. Eat/consume food slowly not in a rush.

Vous dites que je suis hérétique. Cela est-il permis? Tuesday, July 08, 2008. Formation Friday - Embracing Simplicity. On Friday of last week (the 4th of July), we had our 3rd Formation Friday event of the year - 'Embracing Simplicity'. As part of our discussion we looked at 5 different ways which we could consider simplifying both our inner life and our outward practice:. Disposable vs. Non Disposable. The ideas we compiled on Friday are just the tip of the ice berg - I would love it if we could continu...

Vous dites que je suis hérétique. Cela est-il permis? Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Yesterday I walked out into our Kitchen and proclaimed that. Sara Miles 'Take this Bread'. I haven't found myself quite so taken with a book in a long while. I keep having to stop and catch my breath to try and take it all in. It is fascinating, challenging, offensive, affirming, confusing and profound all at once. And all wrapped up in some achingly beautiful prose. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Vous dites que je suis hérétique. Cela est-il permis? Thursday, September 27, 2007. The view from our kitchen window this evening:. Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Snake catching and the ordinary aucklander: a history. Our voting papers for the Local Government elections arrived on the weekend, along with the usual array of electoral campaign rants which promise much and say very little. But I was most bemused by this comment from Elliot Blade, a candidate standing for Auckland City Councillor:.

Vous dites que je suis hérétique. Cela est-il permis? Tuesday, July 08, 2008. What do I need to stop. What are the attitudes I see in myself that I want to 'cease'. What are the practices in my life which keep them rooted in my behaviour? Do I need to employ in my life in order to help me become free? Take time to stop and enjoy eating with family/friends rather than rushing from one thing to the next. Sit down, eat more slowly and engage in conversation with those you care about. Do I really need it?

Is there someone I know who can teach me something new? Or someone who can help me to complete a project? Is there a resource I have (e.g. a vegetable or herb or fruit tree) in too greater abundance to use it all myself? How can I share my excess with others? Vous dites que je suis hérétique. Cela est-il permis? Wednesday, February 13, 2008. First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may become clean'. One of the things we encourage our community to do at cession, is to consider making a 40 day goal over the Lent period that will aid you in working toward a bigger spiritual growth goal that you have set your self for the year. This year, my Lent goal is to abstain from overwork. But, I am going to try! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
