Sweet Home Helena: January 2014
http://sweethomehelena.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 31, 2014. As I'm sure you all know), it didn't. It actually accumulated! However, the same stuff that provided a few inches of fluffy white beauty at our house, immediately turned to thick sheets of ice on all the roads in Birmingham, and shut the entire city down for a couple days. So many people were stranded and separated from their families.for hours or even overnight! Thankfully, the sun is shining, the temperatures are rising, and things are starting to return to normal. This child&...

Sweet Home Helena: Weekly Picture How-To
http://sweethomehelena.blogspot.com/2013/12/weekly-picture-how-to.html
Monday, December 9, 2013. I tend to fizzle out. I'll start something strong, then eventually it goes by the wayside. I think that's just human nature. Self-discipline is not the most thrilling habit to exercise. BUT I did stick to taking a picture of Silas every week of his first year of life, and I'm so happy I did! Totally worth it. Tuesday just became our picture day, and we made it a part of our routine. So if you really want to see how it's done, you can hightail it over there! Take lots of pictures!

Counting Houses: June 2013

These kale chips are super yummy and much healthier than the regular potato chip alternative. And they're super easy to make. So it's a win-win-win. Kale (we like to use the pre-chopped kind). 1 Preheat your oven to 375. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper. We've really found this is key to getting them all crunchy. At least for us it is. 2 Spread the kale into an even layer over the parchment paper. It cooks down a lot so really pile it on there. Ours went from this. 2 tablespoons of butter.

Counting Houses: August 2013
http://countinghouses.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
We are often looking for yummy but healthy snacks for in between meals and this is one of our favorites. And it's super fast and simple. Just throw some slices of avocado (I like my slices pretty thick). Onto a slice of toast and sprinkle on some kosher salt. Now you could leave it just like that and it tastes really good. However we like to drizzle on some Bolthouse Farms Yogurt Dressing - Salsa Ranch flavor. This is a very light and fruity tasting juice. 2 gala apples, and 10 strawberries. 1 Turn your ...

Sweet Home Helena: June 2013
http://sweethomehelena.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 27, 2013. He's been doing this for a few weeks now, but it's worth telling you, that almost every time I pick Si up, he gets extremely pleased and pats my shoulder. I mean really. Pats it. With his little chubby hand. That's definitely my favorite new thing he's doing these days. He's also pretty great at clapping and feeding himself blueberries. Sooo.there's that. Posted by Sweet Home Helena. Thursday, June 20, 2013. I feel like surely this child is going to start crawling any day. This w...

Sweet Home Helena: August 2013
http://sweethomehelena.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 23, 2013. Y'all Silas has learned so much this week, I can hardly remember everything. He can sign "more", "all done", and "please"; and can show you where his head and tongue are. When we sing around the house, or he hears music, he starts kind of singing along. Oh, and for a few weeks now, if you clap, brush your hands off, or say "hooray! Silas will start clapping like mad. Killer. Posted by Sweet Home Helena. Saturday, August 17, 2013. Posted by Sweet Home Helena. So I got five more...

Sweet Home Helena: July 2013
http://sweethomehelena.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Guys I'm caught up on these pictures! Silas turned 45 weeks yesterday and I'm actually posting it today! Maybe now I can actually work on posting something other than my adorable baby's face. Although, it doesn't get much better, my friends. I feel like this kid's brain and hair have been growing by leaps and bounds of late. He signed "please" a few times this week and will pat his head on command. Sniff. So proud! Aaaaand he also got his first bruise this week! While Silas and ...

Sweet Home Helena: May 2013
http://sweethomehelena.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Bertrand Finds a Home. Anyway, we walked in and there were all of their magnificent white animal heads, just a-staring at me. Ugh. I love them all. The giraffe head was a little smaller than some and I just adored it, so I thought maybe somehow it would be kind of affordable. It was not. A hundred thirty big ones. That. Be if it were 70% off. Not that we expect you to give it to use for that ridiculous price. Oh! Now THAT we could do! And then we paid $39 for Bertrand. The end.
