http://ellanicholas.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
My road to the Olympics. Tuesday, March 20, 2012. After 6 long weeks of training in Penrith I am finally back to Tauranga - via Hamilton to watch some cricket for St Pats day! Very daunting thought. There is still heaps of organising to do so along with training that seems to be filling the days pretty fast. I would like it if the sun came out please NZ! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Keep up to date with my adventures in Canoe Slalom as i train and race around the world! June = Augsburg World Cup.

Ella Nicholas: June 2014

My road to the Olympics. Thursday, June 26, 2014. My World Cup tour this year has been disappointing to say the least. Going in I knew things would be difficult but I remained optimistic. Training had it's ups and downs - getting used to a new boat, getting the feel of white water again, getting over sickness; but these are no excuse. In both the London and Prague world cups I did some paddling that I was very happy with but I also made large mistakes that cost me. Since the Prague World Cup last weekend...

Ella Nicholas: Seeing the world one artificial river at a time :)

My road to the Olympics. Monday, February 3, 2014. Seeing the world one artificial river at a time :). A last minute pretty spontaneous decision has seen me end up at a training camp in Al Ain a couple of hours out of Dubai! Whilst racing at the NZ open 2 times NZ Olympian Luuka Jones invited me to join her on her adventure to the desert. With nothing else on my schedule for this time block I decided why not! I have been here for nearly a week now and am loving it bar a minor shoulder injury! So day one ...

Ella Nicholas: Summer days in NZ
http://ellanicholas.blogspot.com/2014/02/summer-days-in-nz.html
My road to the Olympics. Monday, February 3, 2014. Summer days in NZ. University finished late October and I passed 4th year med school without too many hiccups. I headed from Christchurch back to my family home in Tauranga and got back into training with the crew up there. November was full on with hard training, my sisters 21st birthday and a very close friends wedding. Next up was the Australian Open race held in Penrith with a training camp leading up to it. Racing here was very disappointing, I was ...

My road to the Olympics. Thursday, September 4, 2014. My great big crazy balancing act. Today is the day before I leave NZ for the big US of A and the pinnacle event of the slalom calendar - the World Championships. Not necessarily in that priority order). Along with some fine print about trying to be social.). Two categories from different hemispheres that make up my world. My days at the moment ideally go a little something like this. Train, eat, go to the Hospital from 8am-4pm, train, eat, study, sleep.

Ella Nicholas: May 2012

My road to the Olympics. Sunday, May 27, 2012. From France to London. This update is a bit belated sorry! Today we arrived back in London to a balmy 26degrees and sun! We had seen it previously on the forecast but hadn’t dared to believe it. Now we are roaming our wee flat in shorts and t-shirts, a bit of a change from 3 weeks ago in scarves and gloves – definitely a good change. Our last week and a half in Pau flew by! World cup. AND how could I forget in 8 days mum arrives! Ella Rose Vaiora Nicholas.

My road to the Olympics. Thursday, June 28, 2012. Lesson 1 - I can't expect to perform higher than what my training has been. Lesson 2 - Always enjoy the race! Don't forget to smile :). Lesson 3 - At the end of the day you are only going to gain from the experience what you make the effort to. I'm sure there are a few more but it's good to keep you all guessing :P. Hope all is well in NZ and the Cooks. Beautiful morning from our window. The course at La Seu D'urgell. NZ team bbq plus IRL and COK. Opening...

Ella Nicholas: July 2012

My road to the Olympics. Monday, July 23, 2012. So we are finally here - the Olympic Village! Home until the 13th of August. My plane landed at London Gatwick airport and my name was called over the loud speaker as I was told to identify myself - turns out there was a man waiting just outside the door who escorted me the whole way through the airport skipping queues and all to my private olympic taxi which took me to the village. Pretty easy airport experience! So far from team Cook Islands only us and o...
