Skip to content ↓. On Feb.04, 2012, under Malaysia. 85km of surface distance, each way, to a height of almost 4100 meters. That is Mt. Kinabalu…and I almost made it. It began yesterday with a two hour ride from Kota Kinabalu to the base of the mountain. After meeting my guide and getting my credentials we began the ascent. Day 1 would be 6km to camp at a height of 11,000 feet. After about 4 hours I arrived. Buffet dinner was served. Tomorrow I return to China, Monday to The US. Thanks for dropping by!

I think we were a bit too old for most of the rides, but it was fun anyway. After that, I went to Cordoba for the day to see the huge Mezquita. In Ella we hiked to Little Adam’s Peak, a leisurely stroll up a cliff side. Ten we went to Udawalawa to see elephants in their own (protected) environment. I stopped off in the capital city of Vientiane for the day and will continue my journey south tomorrow. This is one of the smallest national capitals I’ve ever seen, both by area and population.
