Ordinary Moments in Life: August 2008
http://jmylesb.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love. Monday, August 18, 2008. One of the advantages of not taking a class this summer was getting to choose which books I would read. I finished a really good one this past Saturday and started one yesterday which may end up on my best list. The book I just finished is Surprised by Hope. Was much more than I expected, even though much of this material Wright (by his own admission) has written about in other books in more detail.

Ordinary Moments in Life: September 2008
http://jmylesb.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 18, 2008. Fall quarter is just around the corner. My books came today for my class this fall: Systematic Theology 2: Christology and Soteriology. I'm looking forward to getting started again after having the summer off, but these books look serious:. Tuesday, September 16, 2008. This quote is at the end of Len's post. I referred to earlier. I need to read this often. How about you? The Crime of Living Cautiously,. The Challenge of Large Churches. This is a great post. Everything is fo...

Ordinary Moments in Life: October 2008

Sunday, October 5, 2008. The Forgotten Ways - Part 3. The second element of mDNA that Hirsch describes in The Forgotten Ways: Reactivating the Missional Church. 160;was a little surprising and unexpected for me, but it makes perfect sense. That element is disciple-making. Immediately behind the first element. These words sound a little harsh to me, and I'm guessing his 90% figure is a guess based on his experience and not hard data, but I think he is making a valid point in general. I think this is a bi...

Ordinary Moments in Life: My father's death
http://jmylesb.blogspot.com/2008/12/my-fathers-death.html
Tuesday, December 23, 2008. This was my first big loss, and already I'm seeing things differently. The death of a close, loved one has a way of putting everything else in perspective. I'm so thankful for God's peace and mercy through it all. And all the prayers from friends and family were heard and deeply felt by all of us. I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. I know words seem hollow right now, but I'm praying for you and your family as you walk forward through the grief. January 11, 2009 at 3:00 PM.

Ordinary Moments in Life: First Sunday of Advent
http://jmylesb.blogspot.com/2008/11/first-sunday-of-advent.html
Sunday, November 30, 2008. First Sunday of Advent. Today begins the Advent season of anticipation and expectation of things to come. We have expectations that God will do something unexpected and wonderful in our midst. We anticipate this with hope and faith. Come, Lord Jesus. Come. Fill us with your Spirit. Bring peace to our hearts and rest for our souls. Shoot me an e-mail. I have some not-so-nice news for you and don't want to leave it in a public space. Thanks, Stephanie Haney. 160;(Fall '08: Tucson).

Ordinary Moments in Life: June 2008
http://jmylesb.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2008. Spiritual Practices - A Beginning. A few years ago, I read these words from Richard Foster. God has given us the Disciplines of the spiritual life as a means of receiving his grace. The Disciplines allow us to place ourselves before God so that he can transform us.By themselves the Spiritual Disciplines can do nothing; they can only get us to the place where something can be done. They are God's means of grace. Richard Foster, Celebration of Discipline, p. 7. Since then, I have lea...

Ordinary Moments in Life: May 2008
http://jmylesb.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 26, 2008. Well that was unexpected. We've done the Pinetop Memorial Day weekend trip now for 13 years. We've had hot weather. We've had cold weather. We've had thunderstorms. We've even had a hail storm. But, never have we had snow! It had snowed Thursday night (the latest snowfall in Pinetop on record) and we had to shovel the driveway to get into the cabin! And it snowed more Friday after we had arrived! A white Memorial Day! Robert having fun with the shovel. Friday, May 23, 2008. I just r...

Rise and Shine: June 2009
http://gofactor.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Isaiah 60:1 (NIV) "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.". Tuesday, June 30, 2009. What Would YOU Do? What would YOU do? My weedwacker wouldn't start. I fixed the broken hose. I changed the sparkplug. I gassed it up and it ran for 2 seconds. Then I pulled that cord 100 or 200 times. I was sweating. I was mad. I threw the weedwacker up in the tree. Monday, June 1, 2009. Thanks to Jeremy W Pastor. What a great video - enjoy! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Ordinary Moments in Life: Tired and frustrated
http://jmylesb.blogspot.com/2008/11/tired-and-frustrated.html
Sunday, November 23, 2008. The screen hasn't changed any from last Tuesday. My research paper is still "yet to come." And I'm tired. I got home late Thursday night (again) from working in LA (again). Had class on Friday night and Saturday morning. Went to the UofA football game Saturday night. Good game but Arizona lost it in the closing minutes. Bummer. So I don't expect we'll have much difficulty once we get serious about it. How many more people will we lose as a result of this? How many will we gain?
