Brief commentary on these verses, but first I have to discuss a few things. 1 John 1:8-10 (ESV):. 8) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. But what about God's forgetting sin?

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21 ESV). Merely confessing a faith in Jesus is not enough to get you into heaven. There are even many who will do great things in "Jesus' name", but will not enter heaven. How can that be true? Why would that be possible? From it and be changed.
