Ramblings from the Sealord: January 2015

http://jerseyprivateer.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Ramblings from the Sealord. Ideas, musings and general ramblings from a wargamer and painter on the island of Jersey. Thursday, January 1, 2015. A New Year, same philosophy? As I sit thinking about what this year has in store for me I can with certainty say I will not be buying too many new products or models. The tail end of last year saw my wife and I buy our first home. There is to be a lot of belt tightening over next 18 months. However, I see that as a positive! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Ramblings from the Sealord. Ideas, musings and general ramblings from a wargamer and painter on the island of Jersey. Wednesday, January 1, 2014. A New Year Beckons. Well it's been quite along time since I posted anything on my ramblings. A lot has happened to me in the real world, most of it good I might add. With that in mind I may have more time to put up some posts! I will post more on this later, possibly with some construction photos and a brief synopsis. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). General Headquarters: First Turn Results

http://generalheadquarters.blogspot.com/2015/01/first-turn-results.html

Thursday, January 29, 2015. Back to relax in the comfort of Hadley Hall, Sir Richard reads over the reports that have come in from his spies through the region. Lord Turstoke, the Lancastrian rebel to the south-west, has apparently fought a battle. Despite being slightly outnumbered six-to-five by the neighbouring lord of Muncaster, the superior quality of Turstoke's retinue allowed him to triumph. The start of battle, with Turstoke facing a line of Muncaster men while his own is split by a copse of trees.

General Headquarters: 28mm Republican Roman Army

http://generalheadquarters.blogspot.com/2015/04/28mm-republican-roman-army.html

Saturday, April 11, 2015. 28mm Republican Roman Army. Hi - I've been quiet here for a while, and thought I'd finally post some pics of what I've been busy with! It's a Republican Roman Army (or 'Polybian Roman') for the Punic Wars, in 28mm! 15 bases of troops, all painted up - although I've still got the basing to do. All the figures are Victrix 28mm Romans, except for the commanders (Agema Miniatures) and the cavalry (unknown source, as I got them second-hand! April 12, 2015 at 1:00 AM. I SEE LEAD PEOPLE.

General Headquarters: March 2014

http://generalheadquarters.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 16, 2014. The Wheatfield, Gettysburg, 2nd July 1863. At the end of January - yes, I know, what with all the WOTR stuff it's taken me ages! The Falkirk Club (FDWC) held a big Sunday bash for the Longstreet Campaign. The result was a day-long multi-player fight, where we decided to add a bit of historical relativity by modelling on the second day at Gettysburg - four Union players holding Sickles' Salient around the Peach Orchard and the Wheat Field, against five attacking Rebels. General Headquarters: February 2015

http://generalheadquarters.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Something of an interesting turn of events in Northern England: a potential three-way battle. Potterburn is a decent estate of strength 7, located on the western edge of our campaign map - and caught between Lords Monkton and Whitcaster, the two Perkins brothers on opposite sides of the war. With the lords having picked off the low-hanging fruit, they are now growing in strength to the stage where Potterburn can no longer stay neutral. Based on reading about 'solo campaigns', ...

The original deployment, Lancastrians facing North and Yorkists facing South. Buckingham's men in the foreground, along with Prince Edward's troops in front. General Headquarters: December 2014

http://generalheadquarters.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Dramatis Personae, 1461. For this campaign I wanted a specific figure to represent an individual, through 'thick and thin' (or, perhaps more suitably, 'to the death'). I can't do all 25 nobles sensibly, but the six powerful lords of the '12 income' castle areas are certainly do-able. Rather than write all at first, I intend to follow particularly one random individual, and then see where the 'narrative' leads. Here are the six power-brokers for our northern war:. With his le...

Following on from the game I will give a review of the battle, with the addition of some photos. I am not promising anything. I dare not use the word 'try'! So what else do I have in store?
