Jerusha's Poems: Bonfire of Insanity
http://jerushas-poems.blogspot.com/2008/11/bonfire-of-insanity.html
Wretches from the torrent bowels of Earth,. Gather at the appointed hour of this day. Rejoicing in the lying demon’s wicked mirth,. The penitent shall have their Sabbath fey. Siren-drawn to blazing zealous pyre,. Their countenance so melodiously austere. Masses beckoned by salvation and desire,. As moths upon the coil, the saintly sally near. 8220;Let Him reign,” the singing mobs declare,. For budding in the bonfire’s frenzied ember tide,. Sparks alight the saintly spawn upon the air,.

Jerusha's Poems: Into One Small Suitcase
http://jerushas-poems.blogspot.com/2008/11/into-one-small-suitcase.html
Into One Small Suitcase. Nine months we waited. Many hopes spoken for you. Our wiggling soft present. We were beyond joy. You were father’s pride. All the things he never had. He’d give them to you. I would nurture you. You filled my heart. Your father’s athlete. And then I found you. Unmoving, no morning smile. So cold in your crib. We stood frozen, numb. Your funeral bleak for us. In one small suitcase. I pack dreams for you away. With part of my soul. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Jerusha's Poems: Winter Prayer
http://jerushas-poems.blogspot.com/2008/11/winter-prayer.html
Oh, wintered season dark betray,. Fickle winds doth cold inspire. Blow sweet warmth upon my day,. Fetch me now a summer fire. Blizzard blow throughout the night,. Cold blanket for my garden brave. No color for the morning light,. My flowers borne in snowy grave. Be gone oh snow and icy storm,. Farewell cold and soaking rain. Welcome longer days so warm,. And robins singing in the lane. Retreat gray cold and crying sky,. Give wing to lark and dragonfly. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Jerusha's Poems: Slab on a Subway Car
http://jerushas-poems.blogspot.com/2008/11/slab-on-subway-car.html
Slab on a Subway Car. Are stamped in your eyes. You – sitting comfortably. In your subway seat. Me – clutching a hand strap,. Trying to maintain my balance. What a nice ass, you’re thinking;. And your boobs are eye candy. Those luscious lips,. So soft for sucking my …. Your mind incubates thoughts. From words I hate. You make me feel like a slab of beef. Hanging in a refrigerated meat truck. Your eyes butcher me,. Slicing me into lesser parts. But I know something. I see you too. View my complete profile.

Jerusha's Poems: Lovely Maidens Vain
http://jerushas-poems.blogspot.com/2008/11/lovely-maidens-vain.html
In Sunday garments we have come to stay,. Rent with grief, the elders stop to weep,. And lovely maidens hope to run away,. Blind to those who're lying here so deep. Decades long my home’s an earthly keep,. No company but visions from my past,. Fragments come as torments in my sleep,. Borne on dreams that cannot be recast. My lovely maiden days did circle fast,. No mind had I for those who’d gone before,. But soon I found my time had been forecast,. So akin to those I’d chosen to ignore.

Jerusha's Poems: Gone to the Edge
http://jerushas-poems.blogspot.com/2008/11/gone-to-edge_17.html
Gone to the Edge. Gone to the edge, she'll be free. A few steps nigher to eternity. Drooping clouds of neutral gray. Indifferent sky, choleric day. Bless’d release from his decree. For freedom she did often plea. But howling mad he’d disagree. A lonely leap, the only way. Gone to the edge. He tortured her, not suddenly. But slowly and by close degree. Finally then she could not stay. Open window, drapes at play. Gone to the edge. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Auburn, Nebraska, United States.

Jerusha's Poems: So Far from Borneo
http://jerushas-poems.blogspot.com/2008/11/so-far-from-borneo.html
So Far from Borneo. On a sunny day so long ago. With leeward wind to tack. I set sail for Borneo and. Cruised to there and back. Dolphins danced to starboard. The waves with white-spit caps. I ordered sheets on ev’ry arm. And never checked my maps. Bent by wind and rocked by sea. The deck awash in foam. I traveled off to Borneo. A place so far from home. Ten-thousand sunsets have I seen. And lands around the globe. But none so splendid as that day. I rode the wind to Borneo. Youth exploded on a beach.
