Local Partners & Sponsors. THE CARNIVAL DE RESISTANCE. Is a traveling carnival, village, and school. Bridging the worlds of art, activism and faith. The first “full launch” of the Carnival included two 10 day residencies, first in Harrisonburg, VA. Then in Charlottesville, VA. In the fall of 2013. The following year, the Carnival curated round the clock programing at their own venue within the Wildgoose Festival. In Oak View, CA and convened in North Carolina. Local Partners & Sponsors. We curated a Bigtop venue at the Wild Goose Festival, June of 2014. We brought in awesome musical projects ( Ears to the Ground Family Band. And Caleb Lange, Soulmobile. And convened panels and talks with some of our favorite teachers (Laurel Dykstra, Ched Myers. Jim Perkinson, and Sarah Thompson). On top of our theatrical productions, we had skill-shares, village tours, midway play, a poetry slam, live drumming dance parties, and constant painting. Working with Star of the Sea.

The Demonstration Village occupied Sojourners United Church of Christ’s old playground, while the Carnival Big Top and Midway filled an adjoining lot. Generous support came from Casa Alma: The Charlottesville Catholic Worker, Charlottesville Community Bikes, Food Not Bombs and many local churches, and righteous food donations poured in from Radical Roots Farm.
