Click on any image to see a larger version). When I was in Iraq, I had the pleasure of working with some folks from Sri Lanka and we became good friends. That put Sri Lanka high on our list of places to go. What we found when we went there exceeded all of our expectations. My good friend Karu served as our tour guide for this incredible island that lies the southeast of India. Karu set us up in a nice little bungalow just up from this beach. Karu drove us around the Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.

As we traveled down the California Coast, we got close to Travis Air Force Base so we decided to take adavantage of our military "Space Available" option and fly off to Hawaii. We got there just in time to rent a car and drive to the beach to catch the sunset! On our 1st full day on the island we drove to Pearl Harbor and veiwed the WWII memorials. Of course we had to spend a few days soaking up the sun on Waikiki Beach! Sunsets in Hawaii are almost magical!

We'd already traveled much of Eastern California earlier in the year so this time we focused mainly on the coast, traveling the entire length of it. Our journey was cut in two by a side trip to Hawaii and Asia but that trip is chronicled in separate pages. Ruth in front of our hotel in McCloud, CA with Mt. Shasta in the background. We did a day hike along the McCloud River. We saw this in the town of Happy Camp.

Jim, my regular pickin' pardner, and I sat down to play on a Saturday afternoon and decided to record some of the songs we like. These aren't real polished.
