It quickly got to big for the comment box, so I decided to put it here instead. I need to post more anyway.). The Birnbaum Siddur is interesting in a number of ways. I think its eclipse by Artscoll is in many ways one of the subtler signs of the changes that have taken place in American Orthodoxy in the past 60 years. You ar...

Big Head, No Brains. I own many a large hat, but no cattle. A Content Free Link. That’s a bit of a lie. The link. To a comment at The Valve), in fact, is chock full of content. The post, however, lacks any content aside from the link. Which I found interesting. This entry was posted on Sunday, July 29th, 2007 at 10:29 pm and is filed under Academia. Big Head, No Brains. I own many a large hat, but no cattle. On Jewish Political Thought. A few summers ago I interned at The Shalem Center. A think tank and research center in Jerusalem. Specifically, I worked for their publication. Mostly doing the normal intern type stuff, working over footnotes, doing market research, and occasionally getting to do some interesting research, building a bibliography of primary sources for possible translation and/or publication. All of this came to my mind the other da...

Big Head, No Brains. I own many a large hat, but no cattle. Is it just me…. Or is Julian Tavarez more effective when he is competing for a starting spot? At the beginning of the season, when we thought that Lester might come up any day now, he was excellent. Then, when his roster spot was assured over the past month or so, he was dreadful. Tonight, pitching out of the bullpen after Gabbard’s collapse, he has thus far been lights out. You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0. What Wo...

Random Rachel Rants: August 2005
http://randomrachelrants.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 23, 2005. Have you ever been somewhere in public where you see something potentially embarrassing happening to a complete stranger and you hesitate on whether or not to interfere? I just want to thank the random girl on the subway who politely informed me, as I got up to leave, that the zipper on my skirt had come completely undone. One my way to make a good first impression. that could have been REALLY awkward. Whoever you are, thank you! Posted by Rachel @ 12:23 AM. Oh, I have a rant.

Tuesday, July 26, 2005. Subliminal Messages (aka "you know you're a girl when."). Posted by Rachel @ 10:15 PM. Monday, July 11, 2005. Or just plain funny? Having spent the year working in an office with several people who are ESL, we've had a lot of funny "ESL moments". for example when one of my co-workers said he was going to Wasabi Beach for the weekend (he meant Wasaga) or when another one described the mall she was at as having been rather clouded (really, she meant crowded). Random Rachel Rants: The Water is Wet.
http://randomrachelrants.blogspot.com/2007/10/water-is-wet.html
Wednesday, October 17, 2007. The Water is Wet. After seeing a new patient in the ER the other night, I told a colleague about the difficulties I'd been having eliciting details from the patient. I've been taught its important to ask about the quality of pain, the severity, whether or not it radiates anywhere as well as its timecourse (among other things! Medicine student: 1, Staff:0.
