bikes, fish, and freedom: December 2011
http://bikesandfish.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Bikes, fish, and freedom. Exploring the world with bikes, fly rods, bird dogs, and friends. Monday, December 5, 2011. Stage 3: The Thrill Of It All. I had an absolutely wonderful time doing this. 3,000 miles of things I won't forget, things I'll dwell upon, and none of it wasted on an empty heart. I gave it my all and then some, and gave it hell till the end. No, I didn't make it to Argentina. Am I upset? Am I going to disappear for a few months in isolated depression over this again? A lot of travel and...

bikes, fish, and freedom: May 2011
http://bikesandfish.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Bikes, fish, and freedom. Exploring the world with bikes, fly rods, bird dogs, and friends. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Beards vs. Buff. The closest compromise between the Beard and the Buff. Evolution, progression, change, call it what you will. It's our world. We own it and some of you even accept it and all of us embrace it in our own strange ways. We don't really have a choice with most things thrown at us at T3 speeds these days. Embrace or Die. You walk in with that broken condom on your neck. Girls...

bikes, fish, and freedom: A Sampling..
http://bikesandfish.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-sampling.html
Bikes, fish, and freedom. Exploring the world with bikes, fly rods, bird dogs, and friends. Wednesday, December 12, 2012. I wanted to complete my first published poetry book before my 29th birthday next week. I don't think it's going to be ready for a bit longer. But I thought I'd sample a few pieces in it. He runs far and stays away on school nights. Grass stained knees and orange blood on a sleeve. The fields stare back at him from class. Teacher stuffing letters into the pockets of the good kids.

bikes, fish, and freedom: January 2012
http://bikesandfish.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Bikes, fish, and freedom. Exploring the world with bikes, fly rods, bird dogs, and friends. Thursday, January 19, 2012. Your most trusted chukar buddy mumbled about it over a few pints of Icky. Saw a good grip of birds on his failed muley trip this fall. His reminiscent mind still fixated on blowing a prime shot on a wall hanger. More pints consumed. Plans hatched. Leave work early on Friday. Truck loaded. Dogs spazzed - they always know, sometimes before you do. It's a fine itch to scratch. A small insi...

Monday, August 29, 2011. Option Paralysis, Creeping Thoughts, and a Shotgun. I've been suffering from option paralysis lately. I also believe time's not your friend. Dog days, stagnation, microcosmic attention span, dirty office job, the need to prolong the lengthening of tooth. Posted by Crazy Uncle Larry. Carp on the Fly.

bikes, fish, and freedom: Get Shorty
http://bikesandfish.blogspot.com/2012/05/being-65-is-mixed-blessing.html
Bikes, fish, and freedom. Exploring the world with bikes, fly rods, bird dogs, and friends. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Being 6'5" is a mixed blessing. I know all the short people reading this will guffaw at the audacity of such a statement, but it's true. I'm sure I'd be an awesome point guard but I'm only talented from the waist down - which is a stretch to say the least (no pun intended) and I think basketball is the least manly sport in the universe. I'm getting ahead of myself. (no pun intended). The fee...

Bikes, fish, and freedom. Exploring the world with bikes, fly rods, bird dogs, and friends. Tuesday, October 25, 2011. PCH near Half Moon Bay. Above the clouds at the top of Big Sur. It feels more comfortable living this way again with every pedal stroke south. I have had the pleasure of visiting with so many old friends, and making a lot of new ones along the way. Ben and Elissa took me in in Santa Cruz. Their back porch has the best ocean view ever. They are by far, the best WarmShowers people ...Matt ...

bikes, fish, and freedom: September 2011
http://bikesandfish.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Bikes, fish, and freedom. Exploring the world with bikes, fly rods, bird dogs, and friends. Friday, September 30, 2011. I've kept it under wraps for months and months. I didn't tell a god damn soul until 2 months ago. I don't think I could deal with another failure like Alaska last year. That still stings more than you can know. I'm jumping on my bike and pedaling south, either to the end of the world in Tierra Del Fuego or until I run out of money, whichever suits me. Last day of work today. For both Jo...
