Summary of each Act. Our review of the play. Sequence of events in a literary work. Basic to every plot is conflict or struggle. In Macbeth there is external conflict between Macbeth and Macduff. Internal conflict is that which occurs within the mind of a character. Macbeth's agonizing over whether or not to kill Duncan is an example of internal conflict. Time and place of the action. Mainly Scotland and breifly England in the tenth and eleventh centuries.
