The practice was so common at one point that even our first family- The Kennedy's- participated in the controversial procedure. In a groggy haze, I rolled back over and fell asleep for a couple of hours and then went on about my busy day. When I returned home, there was news that the unthinkable had happened: a massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, with aftershocks rocking seas as far away as California and British Columbia.
