Pezalla's sculptures have a curious, neritic elegance, like souvenirs from a Jules Verne expedition or a particularly fruitful day of beachcombing. But Pezalla's structures swarm and cast shadows, and the humble materials from which they are constructed lend a roughness suggesting an origin darker than the sea: Driftings resemble coral or driftwood, but may very well be bits of bone.".

What we do with all this time. Photo by Daniel Hunt. Over a year ago, I was on a senior class trip with my students to New Orleans. On one afternoon, maybe the third day of our journey, we found ourselves at Bayou Bienvenue. Which serves as the northern perimeter of the Lower Ninth Ward. This was getting worse by the minute. I was on the verge of herding the group in, calling it a day and heading back to the bus. Eventually, we got the call that it was time to get back on the bus, and as we walked back t...

Atelier Tempel: demolition sale
http://ateliertempel.blogspot.com/2013/08/demolition-sale.html
There is a big renovation at hand. You might know that the city of Amsterdam is built on piles. Well the piles under our building have to be renewed and to do that the groudfloor appartment and shop first will be demolished and after putting the new piles in the ground will be rebuilt. So, o. H my, we have to leave our house, atelier and shop we love to live and work in for a big while (about 7 months). But first there will be a big sale in the current store this weekend! My name is Hilde Tempelman.
