The tumultuous bildungsroman of A.H. in H.K. Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Dim sum, old Chinese propaganda posters and cool trees. At the Renfrew Restaurant that is on campus:. These posters are from the Hong Kong Museum of History:. Hong Kong has a plethora of cool trees. It is much more than an urban jungle, my friend. Remember when you used to draw trees and shrubs with flowers on them when you were little? Then realized that they don't actually exist? Okay maybe that was just me. But they do exist! I went...

hoang kong: March 2008
http://hoangkong.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
The tumultuous bildungsroman of A.H. in H.K. Sunday, March 30, 2008. This post is going to be about food. Sometimes though, restaurants will offer their usual menu at a discounted price. At tea time, you will find 65 cent salmon hand rolls and other such 50% off sushi at a restaurant in Kowloon City Plaza. It is fresh and delicious, despite how sketchy the term "discount sushi" may seem. One can find this delicious mango and salmon roll for only about $1 CAD. Tuesday, March 11, 2008. What's in a name?

Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away". Wednesday, April 23, 2008. A walk to remember. I never thought I would end up here. The last few weeks have been really rough in so many ways, and I needed to clear my head. Normally after I finish my last exam, I feel an incredible sense of relief and liberation. And I'm so grateful for my amazing friends who can help me do that. Tuesday, April 1, 2008. It's just one of those days. It's internship season, and the RCC is humming with job gossip. My other retail jo...

Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away". Sunday, February 3, 2008. I have a love-hate relationship with the TTC. Case and point, my adventure home last night. She asks through a thick accent. I explain that we have to catch a shuttle bus to get to Victoria Park. She says, a confused expression swimming across her face. It may not sound like much, but meeting this woman turned my whole evening around. I missed my bus and had to wait 25 minutes in the damp and cold subway for the next one to come. ...I gue...

"Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away": eyes wide shut
http://carly12184.blogspot.com/2007/11/eyes-wide-shut.html
Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away". Wednesday, November 28, 2007. I can't believe I handed in a nomination form for Arts and Life editor of the. I've never even written for this section of the paper. And what do I know about the arts? Hell, what do I know about life? I wanted to run for News, but I know I won't win. But do I even want to win? Is that the point? But do I run for something I know I won't win or do I run for something that I have a chance of getting, even if it's not what I really want?

Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away". Tuesday, April 1, 2008. It's just one of those days. It's internship season, and the RCC is humming with job gossip. CBC, CTV, TSN, Global, City, Omni all seem to be the buzz words of the moment among third-year j-schoolers. And the other question of the day seems to be, "What are you doing this summer? Me: Shudder. Shrug shoulders. Mumble something incoherent. Avoid eye contact. Cry. Retail has been an interesting experience, to say the least. I wandered through ...

"Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away": When waffles stick to the grill
http://carly12184.blogspot.com/2008/06/when-waffles-stick-to-grill.html
Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away". Monday, June 9, 2008. When waffles stick to the grill. But when the waffle iron buzzed and I went to open it, I was greeted with a sticky and crusty mess. The Pam had evaporated after the iron was pre-heated, and the waffles were stuck on both sides of the iron. I had to spend about 15 minutes scraping the waffle iron with a chopstick, flaking off what would have been a delicious and perfect treat. But I love them both dearly. June 14, 2008 at 12:20 PM.

The tumultuous bildungsroman of A.H. in H.K. Thursday, February 28, 2008. By the way, I did visit both Thailand and Vietnam during my Chinese New Year break, but have been too lazy to blog about it, as there is too much to tell. But please see Jessica's Edible Tour. Of our trip. Those pictures barely scrape the surface of the edible haven that is South East Asia! Wednesday, February 27, 2008. There must be something in the water. Sunday, February 17, 2008. "Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away": Back to the Future
http://carly12184.blogspot.com/2008/11/being-back-in-class-almost-feels-like.html
Everything Looks Perfect From Far Away". Saturday, November 1, 2008. Back to the Future. Being back in class almost feels like turning circles in a revolving door. My extended time away from school was eye-opening and awesome. And my trips to California over the summer were fortunately a wonderful escape, and I'm so grateful that I had the chance to go twice. Too cool for school (and the classic sunglasses). This is my penultimate semester before graduation. And then.who knows. Travel? Back to the Future.
