The funniest thing is that all the students change into shorts and t-shirts and put on big winter boots and run around in the snow having snow ball fights on the playground. Wednesday, September 29, 2004. Trip to Hokkaido: Sapporo. After a few days hiking in the mountains we headed down to the big city of Sapporo. Sapporo reminded me a lot of Portland, Oregon. The city is well designed and has lots of trees lining the streets. Like all Japanese cities, the public transportation is amazing; incredibly efficient, fast, easy to use, and of course rarely a sign or announcement in English unless it is a major tourist stop. Friday, November 11, 2005. Brian bowing to the Pocky. Today, 11/11 is national Pocky day. All the stores had big displays and sales on Pocky. Plus, the release of a few new flavors. In Japan, there seems to be a new Pocky flavor for each season. Fall was sesame flavor (a bit odd if you ask me) and now, the new winter flavor, is chocolate snow, or something like that. Monday, October 31, 2005. Today, I decided to wear my halloween costume to school. I wanted to suprize the students and staff, so I biked to work in my costume. Several business men I passed on my way to work, kept saying, "nekko, nekko" which means "cat, cat" and were defiently a bit suprized! Luckly, none of them crashed into me. I think the students and teachers really enjoyed the fact that I dressed up, plus I taught all the kids how to go trick-or-treating! Posted by Jessie @ 12:41 AM.
