Sunday, October 28, 2012. The weather here has changed with the coolest temps we've had this season. This is never good news for a migrainer. But instead of feeling too sorry for myself, I'll enjoy the pumpkin my husband carved and the s'mores we can now make. Hard to believe that the 5 year anniversary of my surgery is coming up. Sunday, February 24, 2013. Once a nurse, always a nurse. :). So I just celebrated 1 month of working as a nurse for a doctor in a nephrology office. I am now in a doctor's office and away from the hospital! This means several things - all good for my headaches. 1 Less stress. Of course the job still has stress, and a new job certainly does, but the high stress of a medical floor juggling 5 severely ill patients was just a wee little much. 2 I get to pee! 3 Better hours and more sleep! Saturday, November 16, 2013. So guess who FINALLY called me Friday. My neurology office! My lab work all was fine, although my ammonia level was at the high end of normal. (A side effect with the Depakote is elevated ammonia.) But since the headaches were no better, and I was having such a hard time with nausea and vomiting, my doctor decided to take me off the of Depakote completely and replace it with Verapamil. Oh well, let's see if med change # 5,864,782 will be the one! Hope this finds you well....

Occasional Neurosis from an occasionally connected neurotic. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. After days of missing calls from my brain doc we finally found each other over the phone. Latest mri shows new tumor activity and doc wants try start a new drug plus chemo soon soon. New symptoms are difficult and chemo promises to be very challenging. We will go back to higher doses of steriods until chemo starts in an attempt to reign in the storm of symptoms. I hate that my kids have to watch all this. Yes, I know.

Most recent MRI and subsequent follow-up with brain doc confirms tumor is stable (not getting bigger or any other life-changing changes). Now we fine-tune some meds to see what happens. Next MRI is in 90 or so days, give or take a month. My vision is fantastic now.no more blurry vision or double vision. I can walk a little better, usually without the cane now. Now can I concentrate on walking? I can finally breathe.

If I hadn't pulled it off I would have wound up in E.R. The right drugs the right way and ice therapy and mentally chasing the pain away. I know, sounds crazy to some people but if have chronic pain you probly know of what I speak. I had several offers to come to dinner from friends and family today and the days leading up to now.
