Searching for Broccoli: The Heat is getting to me...
http://jesswritesblogs.blogspot.com/2010/07/heat-is-getting-to-me.html
Speak to me, great broccoli; I am hungry. Friday, July 9, 2010. The Heat is getting to me. Yep, it's hot outside. But that's not why I'm writing. It's Miami. That. Sorry, boys. I like small town, small time success stories. I've been watching a lot of Friday Night Lights. And though Gaston isn't like the Dillon of FNL. I value commitment, which means sticking with your hometown team even when you have opportunities elsewhere. Anyone can leave a losing team or a small town for something bigger and bet...
Searching for Broccoli: June 2009
http://jesswritesblogs.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Speak to me, great broccoli; I am hungry. Wednesday, June 24, 2009. I've hired myself as a writer. So, what am I writing about? One story is what I would categorize as upper elementary age fiction; the other is a non-fiction passion project of mine. That's all of the details I'm willing to divulge at the moment.more later, I'm sure. But perhaps even more important, what does my writing space look like? Saturday, June 6, 2009. Go boldly in the direction you've chosen. It turns out I'm not. I've had this n...
Searching for Broccoli: Summer vacation...finally!
http://jesswritesblogs.blogspot.com/2010/06/summer-vacationfinally.html
Speak to me, great broccoli; I am hungry. Sunday, June 27, 2010. Ah, summer. Welcome back, my friend. Right now I'm in the midst of of Chapter 6, which sounds like I've done a lot until I consider that I've only edited 17 of my 130 single-spaced pages. Thank goodness I now have my writing room in order and can spend days at a time in that space slogging through the muck that is my first draft. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Searching for Broccoli: January 2009
http://jesswritesblogs.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Speak to me, great broccoli; I am hungry. Friday, January 23, 2009. This quote is brought to you by the letter E. I came across this quote while reading last week's issue of Entertainment Weekly. I wasn't going to blog about it, but then I realized yesterday's post was depressing. I feel better now. Thus:. The silent e is the ninja of the English alphabet.". It just makes me smile. Please enjoy. That is all for today. Thursday, January 22, 2009. Why English Teachers Shouldn't Do Math. In that same averag...
Searching for Broccoli: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
http://jesswritesblogs.blogspot.com/2010/07/girl-with-dragon-tattoo.html
Speak to me, great broccoli; I am hungry. Monday, July 5, 2010. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Obviously the hype is pretty intense - it seems everyone is reading or has read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Even made the series its cover story a few weeks ago, which is totally out of character for that publication. Usually "entertainment" is strictly film or television for EW. Plus it was full of what I saw as a dry diatribe on the inner workings of the Swedish financial system. Cue snoozing noise.

August 21, 2011. Hours of boredom…seconds of terror. Paws For Thought: Land of Camelids
http://drmeglynn.blogspot.com/2011/09/land-of-camelids.html
September 28, 2011. My week has been full of soft fleece, gentle humming, luxurious eyelashes and the love of llamas…and alpacas and camels. Welcome to Camelid Land. Here I’m placing a lumbosacral epidural. This is an ugly case of fungal keratitis that I diagnosed (basically a fungal infection of the eye). A regiment of antibiotics, antifungals and a dilating agent will hopefully solve this lovely girl’s problem. Camels LOVE pears…and will trample you for them. September 28, 2011 at 3:52:00 PM AST. Searching for Broccoli
Speak to me, great broccoli; I am hungry. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Last unplanned day of summer. That's what my summer has deteriorated to. A list of things. Always incomplete. I feel the pull. The evenings are cooler. The spiders are filling up my backyard. The days flip by. I am some weird migratory bird. I might not feel the excitement, but habit is pulling me back. I can only hope the magic of learning will once again enchant me. Labels: Being an English Teacher. Tuesday, August 3, 2010. But no...

Jess Writes Here
Poor, sweet Anna. We opened the pizza box together, and before our eyes, the ultrasound photo taped to the inside lid revealed what we had been waiting to find out for weeks. Travis and I shouted together. . Then Annas little voice cried out: But I dont want another brother! Youll get to keep all your dolls to yourself. . All I Want for Christmas. Presence. Still so far away, right? To tear or not to tear? Here we go again. Thats What Nan Said. I was nominated for the Liebster Award! Never heard of it?
