Mural Project: Submitted work to a show AHH!
http://jewishgalart.blogspot.com/2014/09/submitted-work-to-show-ahh.html
Friday, September 5, 2014. Submitted work to a show AHH! The kids will be going to school starting next week and I have decided to use the time they are in school to work on art. To I guess make a real commitment to working for the first time since undergrad. All summer I have been actually doing some work with the crochet mixed media stuff and I am really enjoying it. I now have two new pieces plus an old piece all in the style of my new work and I submitted to a show this afternoon.

Sunday, September 21, 2014. Some updates on the piece I have been working on for a couple of weeks . I think maybe the major portion of it is done, and now I have to clean up the threads. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I am an artist and art therapist, recently moved to new york, exploring and learning :). Caffeine works wonders / but it cannot wake me up / if i've had no sleep. School and a new piece. Submitted work to a show AHH! Simple template. Template images by jusant.
Mural Project: Crochet and painting
http://jewishgalart.blogspot.com/2014/07/crochet-and-painting.html
Thursday, July 24, 2014. I'm not sure this is finished, it certainly isn't a professional photo. I'm challenging myself to finish 3 works by the end of August and apply to a non-traditional fiber works show. Honestly I think it is a waste of money. But if I don't apply to shows, I will never hope to be in one. It's four layers . the back is a painted piece of particle board, then a layer of crochet (enlarged broomstick lace stitch I just learned), then a painting, then more crochet with white thread.
Mural Project: Filling in the space
http://jewishgalart.blogspot.com/2014/11/filling-in-space.html
Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Filling in the space. Well I figured out what to do with that arch but it is taking forever. I hope the effect at the end will be worth it . Yesterday I didn't know what to do. I wanted to work with the arch but I really didn't know what I wanted to do with it. I had all kinds of grand plans but nothing concrete, nothing I could act on. So I organized my yarn. I've been scattered but I am trying to focus. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Planning the next steps.
Mural Project: School and a new piece
http://jewishgalart.blogspot.com/2014/09/school-and-new-piece.html
Tuesday, September 9, 2014. School and a new piece. The kids have started school! This means I am alone for three hours a day, twice a week. CRAZY. I have decided to use this time to focus on art making for the first time since undergrad. It's actually pretty amazing to work on my own art and not feel guilty about it. In school, I was like, I'm paying for this studio time! I better get some work done! Now that I don't have the time to work as an art therapist, and I spend most of my day focused on the ki...

Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: Toronto Wedding Recap
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2009/05/toronto-wedding-recap.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Let me begin by saying it was actually very hard for me to capture this wedding on camera! Second, my camera isn't the best and there were over 400 guests, meaning my vantage points were not always great. I had to zoom in quite a bit and tried not to use the flash (so not to be disruptive) so the quality is somewhat grainy. You heard me - over 400 guests! It was pretty amazing. Anyway, on to the pictures. A better ...
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: January 2009
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Sunday, January 25, 2009. How Grandma and Grandpa Met. Today I visited my grandma after spending the weekend with JewishGuy's sisters and niece and nephew. It was a crazy weekend (I start class tomorrow)! While at early dinner / late lunch with grandma I asked how she and grandpa met and about their wedding. I'm going to rewrite the story here in the first person as best as I can remember it. I only had a few wee...
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: April 2009
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Thursday, April 2, 2009. Someone commented on one of my pictures or posts somewhere on the internet in the past couple of days "plan something fun to avoid post-wedding blues.". I really don't want to go back to school yet. I don't want to be back in real life yet. Last weekend was so fun and amazing and fantastic and now I have to write a paper? Study for an exam? I tried to make some art about it yesterday and I m...
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: July 2008
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Sunday, July 27, 2008. Flowergirl: an 8,000lb "big sister". It's not uncommon for a groom to include his sister in his wedding party. The story becomes significantly more unique when you find out his "sister" is an elephant. Joshua Schacht, 22, and Ashley Glass, 18, were married last night at Mendon's Southwick Zoo in a wildly entertaining ceremony. Dondi, a female Asian elephant, served as the flower girl in the couple's wedding. 160;She ...
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: September 2008
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Monday, September 29, 2008. Exactly 6 months and counting! Also, Shana Tova! Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Two other people in my grad program are engaged (not to each other, separately engaged to other people). It's exciting because now I don't have to feel so weird saying my fiance this or that. I can also talk shop - ie: "wedding plans" - with them and not be too afraid of boring them! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wedding in T- days!
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: February 2009
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Sunday, February 8, 2009. Taking Care of Bidnez. Today we went suit shopping and ring shopping. It's SO FRUSTRATING how easy it is for JewishGuy to buy a suit and it took me forever to get a dress! While we were there they offered to re-dip my engagement ring, which is white gold and needed to be re-plated, so they did it on the spot. It looks great :). So things I still need just for me:. Head thing for after the veil is off. Welcome to W...
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: October 2008
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Thursday, October 30, 2008. OK Here is my conundrum. Someone else in my program is getting married before me and she invited the whole class. That was really nice of her! 160;I am definitely going to the reception, the ceremony unfortunately is still on Shabbat and I can't get there (but the reception is after Shabbat, so I can make it! 160;The thing is, she is getting married in Chicago, so it's different, kind of? And they are pretty aw...
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: December 2008
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Monday, December 29, 2008. Today JewishGuy's sister (BigSIL) had a baby girl! Happy birthday to her! The chuppah is going to be four bamboo poles (held by friends) with a white cloth on the top. JewishMIL is making it! At the corners there are going to be a couple of these pink and yellow daisies plus some greenery:. The rest of the flowers are going to be these white daises (and also some smaller, also white daisies):. Grandma and Grandpa...
Jewish "Bridezilla" Gal: The Wedding!!!
http://jewishgalwedding.blogspot.com/2009/04/wedding.html
Elaborate fantasies and musings (and rants) about March 29, 2009. Wednesday, April 1, 2009. One of my favorite pictures so far, taken by one of JewishGuy's friends :). The whole weekend was amazing, I can't even begin to describe it! I keep wanting to sit down and write a whole post, but I'm not sure how to do that. Should I break it down, day-by-day? Or should I just write one big EEEEEEE post? So here goes, one big EEEEE post, to be followed up by other, smaller posts. A compromise, I guess! Then after...

Stranger in a Strange Land
Stranger in a Strange Land. My name is JewishGal. These are the accounts of my adventures as a stranger in a strange land. I will be ranting and raving, telling stories, going on [potentially incorrect] tirades about halacha, and whatever else I want to talk about. Sunday, January 27, 2008. I will have to write more about welcoming converts, but it's 3:30am right now so I will leave that to another day. Links to this post. Saturday, January 19, 2008. As it were. I didn't trash my former workplace or ...
Mural Project
Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Planning the next steps. I am not a huge sketcher, usually I don't do things with sketches. But this piece has been making me sketch. Mostly because I don't really trust myself to keep the visual thought I had for long enough to actually achieve it, considering how long it takes me to get anywhere with it. It's gotten cold outside, and now my fingers are cold inside. Cold fingers! Not good for crochet! Need more hot tea! Links to this post. Wednesday, November 5, 2014. I wasn'...
