This is the first day of my life. Friday, September 30, 2005. I am the new Valencia manager. Was playing Championship Manager yeterday for aaaaaaages, had quite an illustrious 4 seasons so far, been manager of sevilla fc, then got the espanyol job. But was sacked! For no apparent reason and so applied for Leganes post. Got that and played 1 season before landing in Valencia. Oh joy! I hear you say. Anyways, was up for ages last night playing it. This is the first day of my life. Wednesday, November 30, 2005. This week just gets worse and worse. So, as if monday wasnt bad enough, I went to the JJB Stadium tonight to watch my beloved Newcastle play Wigan in the 4th round of the Carling Cup. And we lost. I cannot believe, 5,000 geordie fans including myself travelled to see a very strong Newcastle side get kicked around the park by a second string Wigan side. Monday, November 28, 2005. We have spent the last couple of days in Magnetic Island, an island 8km from Townsville in northern Queensland. I know you are all probably bored of me writing how beautiful places are, but so many places here are really beautiful - and Maggies (as the locals call Magnetic Island) is no exception. This experience had a lovely write up in the lonely planet, however these things are never as simple as they appear! However it is probably about 12yrs since I have been on a horse!
