The last weekend of February, we went on our first whole-family backpacking trip. We had been waiting for our youngest child to be able to walk far enough and carry his own small backpack. He was a trooper and made little complaint about our 4-mile round trip hike.

Saturday, November 10, 2012. Since Kaitlyn's poorly attended party, we have decided that we are going to have family parties from now on. Jessi has been a pretty good sport about it. We are a pretty lively bunch anyway so we had a great time. We are very happy to have Jessica Rose in our family. She lights up our life. Happy Birthday, Jessi! From the White House, we walked a few blocks to the National Geographic Society building where our guests were waiting for us with a few snacks and a water bottle. We were then treated with a prescreening on the new show Cosmos.
