An Introduction to Micronesia with other random stuff. Thursday, October 23, 2008. Its still too early to tell yet if I survived my first quarter of teaching or not.My body system is in check.no nervous breakdowns.several near collisions with overtaxations.no scratches though. But I'm still not sure. This can't be all of it. Moments. Right now, we just finished with a basic intro of some of the books of the Bible. Our next task is an intro to Christian Doctrine 1 in other words, theology. I survived the 1s...

http://pibcstudents.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
An Introduction to Micronesia with other random stuff. Friday, March 20, 2009. A change of focus. Outside the Berea Youth Association is doing a carwarsh to help fund a field-trip to the outer islands this Easter break for a youth conference. I have been invited to go as a guest speaker. For twenty years now or more, Berea Church, along with PIBC-Tol, has been involved in this annual youth conference. This year, for the first time, PIBC is not going. 5 years in a row. Friday, March 6, 2009. I've had the ...

Mere Micronesianity: April 2008
http://pibcstudents.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
An Introduction to Micronesia with other random stuff. Monday, April 28, 2008. It was 4:00 in the morning. Sound asleep moments ago, but not anymore. A phone call jolted me up from dreamland. Now I am sweating.profusely. Edgy, nervous, and fidgety. Above all, my head aches. Been thinking too much. Like that country did not produce enough trouble already. It had been a bold plan. Daring. Who would have notice the difference between a Micronesian and an Indonesian? Wonder if the press had picked up on it.

Mere Micronesianity: West side vs. Far East side (Continues)
http://pibcstudents.blogspot.com/2009/02/west-side-vs-far-east-side-continues.html
An Introduction to Micronesia with other random stuff. Sunday, February 22, 2009. West side vs. Far East side (Continues). Now I have nothing against my Western brothers and sisters who are here in the islands to do us some changes. Infact, I can name and identify the many ways that they have helped me grow, spiritually, physically, mentally, and even emotionally. My suggestions (to be detailed and discussed later on) are:. 1) Be more sensitive. 2)Be patient with us. 3) Respect our opinions. Erin Plaxton...

Found also in the previous post. BTW, Brandon, I remember you. You preached on the book of Psalms in chapel service on Guam. You also were a "forumer" in the PIBC online class discussions. My mom says hi to you and your wife. Now to your question:. Now all join the chorus. Now before you read this post I suggest you scr...

An Introduction to Micronesia with other random stuff. Sunday, June 29, 2008. Charity Ruda posted a comment. Friday, June 20, 2008. Howard Merrell helps out. Wednesday, June 18, 2008. I hope I have caused quite a stir. You know I cannot bear the thoughts of leaving PIBC without a bang. And so BANG! But all that is to be said is said, let us turn towards more encouraging things. Communication- what a mess! For most of the students they see you by what you do most: hang out in the office most of the time&#...

http://pibcstudents.blogspot.com/2009/02/west-side-vs-far-east-side.html
An Introduction to Micronesia with other random stuff. Friday, February 20, 2009. West side vs. Far East side. Howard Merrell brought up a very good point. He commented on the idea that sometimes it is the snobbery of people (personal cultures) that affects relationships. Not only is this true, I have personally seen this; I am also guilty of being a snob to people who only wanted to do good. Here's some reasons why:. Just a question for my own cultural enlightenment:. If you can help me understand:.

http://pibcstudents.blogspot.com/2009/02/west-side-vs-far-east-side-2.html
An Introduction to Micronesia with other random stuff. Friday, February 6, 2009. West side vs. Far East side (2). So we left the discussion with the conclusions that bridges are what with need to ensure a fruitful relationship with one of a different culture. We also said that sometimes its personal cultures that are most harmful. So how do we show love? Not only must we work to effectively show love, we must also seek to be open to receive it. You are right on about the personal culture.
