An Engineers Without Borders placement in Ghana's Northern Region to improve public sector programs. Thursday, March 12, 2009. Happy Anniversary Vida – the story of an entrepreneur. During that time she started to think about what she wanted to do, where should she get a job? Of her own volition, Vida prepared a traditional Thanks Giving dinner for all of the Canadians in town! Even though the salary was far too small (60GH¢/mo) she knew she had to start somewhere, so she readily accepted. Then one day s...

I bought a ball in Tamale and brought it out to the field one day. It is a nice thing to look forward to at the end of the day. I don’t think it is actua...

Courtney in Gushei, Ghana. A four month volunteer placement through Engineers Without Borders Canada, McGill University chapter. Thursday, August 28, 2008. Wrapping up at Work. There was so much I wanted to do in my last few weeks at work, and the time seemed to fly by. In an earlier post, I discussed how I wanted to hold a farmers’ meeting on drip irrigation, and I managed to pull it off before leaving ITFC. Just to refresh your memory, there were 2 reasons I organized this meeting:. Sarah - long term v...

http://g-in-ghana.blogspot.com/2008/07/july-17th-blog-post.html

Monday, July 21, 2008. July 17th Blog Post. Well looking at the calendar today I realized to my surprise that I have only 31 days left here in Salaga. Almost exactly one month - though I think I will be much closer to that by the time I am able to post this! Next week I am heading out to the Makango area, part of our District, to spend some time in a village. I am planning on spending five days with a local family to experience the realities of rural life in Ghana - yes, mud hut and all! I am all ears!

Field Staff For A Day… Or Maybe 4! | The Adventures Of EWB And Michael Bosompra In Ghana

The Adventures Of EWB And Michael Bosompra In Ghana. Michael K. Bosompra in Ghana. July 17, 2009. Field Staff For A Day… Or Maybe 4! So I was given a pretty cool opportunity the other day. A friend of mine who works for the Environmental Health Department in the Zabzugu/Tatale District Assembly was preparing to go out and gather data from various communities (villages) in the southern part of the district and was willing to take me along with him! Now that all the background information is out of the way...

The Adventures Of EWB And Michael Bosompra In Ghana. Michael K. Bosompra in Ghana. May 23, 2009. Well actually I’ve been here for 1 night and 2 days) but regardless I figured it was the perfect time for first reactions. My first reactions were pretty good. Having spent the previous day in Saboba (Shamir’s district) I was coming in with some sort of image of what Zabzugu might look like; and let me tell you Zabzugu did not disappoint! A couple pictures I took while biking through the downtown area]. Imagi...

First Trip Out To The Field | The Adventures Of EWB And Michael Bosompra In Ghana

https://ewbnmkb.wordpress.com/2009/06/09/first-trip-out-to-the-field

The Adventures Of EWB And Michael Bosompra In Ghana. Michael K. Bosompra in Ghana. June 9, 2009. First Trip Out To The Field. Today was one of my best days at work so far. I got to go out with the water and sanitation team and one of their donors to see a community led total sanitation (CLTS) project. The community we were going out to was about 1.5 hours away so we piled into the big white SUV (the epitome of development vehicles) and made our way out there. The pics on the left are the types of latrine...

Jen in Ghana

An Engineers Without Borders placement in Ghana's Northern Region to improve public sector programs. Saturday, March 28, 2009. Is no more a single attitude, a single background or a single outlook than Africa. Is a single country, a single culture, or a single destiny. There’s hope all around me in the hearts and minds of those swimming through all of the distractions, determined to do something. Sister Maggie: my next door neighbour. Mahmud: my tailor made friend. Stephen and Esther: my Ghana family.
