the year of the phoenix: sigh of relief
http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/2015/07/sigh-of-relief.html
The past few weeks have been a serious whirlwind. My book was published. And I started a new job. And last weekend I went out of town for the Shawshank Hustle. And this weekend I'm going out of town as I'll be spending all. Of next week in Florida (try not to be jelly). And, of course, there's that whole promoting a book thing, like I did this past Monday with a book talk and signing. Thanks to my former classmate P. for attending and snapping this pic! Life is so freaking weird these days. Weighing in b...

the year of the phoenix: Race Recap: Rite Aid Cleveland Half Marathon
http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/2015/05/race-recap-rite-aid-cleveland-half.html
Race Recap: Rite Aid Cleveland Half Marathon. So First things first. Obviously I spent the past few weeks of training. Talking about how I knew I had a very good chance of PR-ing and, as you'll see below, at the 10K split I was right on target. Second, I thought it might be fun to do this particular race recap. A little bit different. Instead of just recapping, I'm going to give you a look into what thoughts ran through my head for those 13.1 miles. There are the other CLE Marathon Ambassadors. THANK YOU...

http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/2015/07/mental-health-monday-impostor-syndrome.html
Mental health monday: impostor syndrome. Have you ever been in a place where it felt like every decision, every choice, every experience - good and bad - were rushing together and leading you to this exact moment that you are in right now? That's me, today. Today Oh, today. Today is a day I have spent, well, pretty much every day of my entire life for the past.23 years waiting for. Today, you see, is the day my book. Which brings me to my topic for today's Mental Health Monday: Impostor Syndrome. I start...

Make a splash this summer with a new swimsuit. This post contains affiliate links, which means if you click through and make a purchase I get a small commission*. But first, here's a fun infographic from ModCloth. On the history of the swimsuit! You guys know I'm a huge ModCloth. Fan One of the reasons I love them so much is they are super plus size friendly and that extends to their swimsuits. Here are a few of my favorites:. Bathing Beauty in Shark. Jump in Fleet First. Fruity Suity Two Piece. Tropicul...
the year of the phoenix: committing to 2015
http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/2015/01/committing-to-2015.html
I started the new year by participating in the Commitment Day. 5K out in Beachwood, Ohio. It was sort of a last minute decision - I think I registered on the 30th or something. See, my FitBloggin. Had posted something last week about doing one race a month and I know my college roommate Megan did that in 2014 and all of a sudden I thought that sounded like THE BEST IDEA EVER. So while looking for Cleveland area January races I saw Commitment Day on the 1st and decided to sign up. Isn't he just so cute?
the year of the phoenix: race recap: Bernie Shuffle 5K
http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/2014/11/race-recap-bernie-shuffle-5k.html
Race recap: Bernie Shuffle 5K. So, the Bernie Shuffle. Was a 5K named in honor of former Cleveland Browns player Bernie Kosar, who left the Browns in 1993 but the city still has a huge soft spot for him. I admittedly am not much of a football fan (of course, that didn't stop me from accepting free tickets for yesterday's game and I even wore my shirt from this race. Truthfully I had. And I had a refund coming my way, I registered. But walking does not so if I was going to be out there in crappy weather I...
the year of the phoenix: #wycwyc-ing it at work
http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/2015/07/wycwyc-ing-it-at-work.html
Wycwyc-ing it at work. So, I mentioned on Monday. That I was starting a new job this week and OMG YOU GUYS. LIKE I SERIOUSLY CANNOT EVEN. The company is way into healthy living while at work and offer so many awesome perks, I hardly know where to begin. And a three hole golf course if I ever feel so inclined (lololol). I also saw one stability ball chair and one standing desk. I'm sure there are more, those were just the two I spotted (to be fair, a standing desk would be pretty obvious as our cubicl...
the year of the phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/p/frequently-asked-questions.html
What diet plan do you follow? For starters, I hate. Using the word "diet" as it really is a lifestyle change. To me, dieting means deprivation and I am not someone who can really give foods up. Instead I strive for balance and flexibility and find that best with Weight Watchers. Starting in January 2008. I was vegetarian for six and half years, until June 2014. When I started transitioning back to eating meat. Have you always struggled with your weight? How do you stay active? The 2014 CLE Half. But the ...
the year of the phoenix: race recap: shawshank hustle
http://www.theyearofthephoenix.com/2015/07/race-recap-shawshank-hustle.html
Race recap: shawshank hustle. Oh man oh man you guys, I have spent months. Waiting for this race. You see, the Shawshank Redemption. Is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time and it's one of my dad's favorite movies, too. Not only that, it was filmed here in Ohio at the Ohio State Reformatory. I knew we had to sign up. Not only was this the first time my dad and I ran a race together, it was his first race ever! I was wearing my podcast shirt. After crossing the finish line we got our fancy medal...
