I love taking shots of children. They are natural models. Some are posers whilst others fight shy of the camera. So I take time to talk with children and explain what’s going on, occasionally letting them see results in the view finder. Bring a change of clothing for a child photo shoot. A modelling session can get you the exact pictures that you want. An hour or two spent taking shots in a favourite location or with a choice of clothes lets me show the subject in a variety of poses with differing backgrounds. Close ups, posed shots, your best aspect, some guidance on how to sit and stand, all very relaxed and easy. Most people are a little hesitant at first but that soon wears off and everyone tells me at the end that they've enjoyed the experience.

The equipment is designed to encourage co-operative play and is large enough to be used by older disabled children who may need more space for wheelchairs and sometimes helpers. The equipment includes a ride-on ride-off seesaw, a giant slide with a wide ramp for wheelchair users to gain access to the top, two nest swings, and a wheelchair accessible swing and roundabout.

My drawings, paintings and sculptures are rooted in the exploration of the functional or familiar object and its conceptual and emotional ‘footprint’. After 30 years of practice which has mainly been involved with exploring the ways the temporal concept of the canvas space can be filled with colour and texture, this work moves towards a post-abstract figuration where a recognisable form emerges.
