A Heart For Haitian Minds: May 2012

http://jillrutz.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

A Heart For Haitian Minds. Thursday, May 31, 2012. This might be my favorite blog that i regularly follow. Today's post was a great reminder that I am not in control. God is! Check it out www.fabsharford.com. One night a couple of months ago I found myself treading anxiety like water in my head, paddling my thoughts round and round. I long for the assurance that everything will turn out okay. Or, you can let every point of tension and anxiety humble you with the reminder that you have no control over you...

A Heart For Haitian Minds: April 2012

http://jillrutz.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

A Heart For Haitian Minds. Monday, April 30, 2012. Our first attempt had been a failure. Not a complete failure, we were still able to have fun ( see post here). The "Haiti Bingo" game that Jill made for us. We saw everything on the list except for "Airplane.". Our goal for Friday was to get out of the city and make it to Cange, a small village on the outskirts of the Central Plateau and home to Paul Farmer’s organization Zanmi Lasante. We were actually staying at the Zanmi Lasante. View from the balcony.

A Heart For Haitian Minds. Saturday, March 31, 2012. I am currently sitting in Amber's apartment with the boys enjoying each others company. Amber is training our kittens to hunt mice with the pink stuffed mouse. Nathaniel is grading papers. Josiah is on the computer. Welcome to our wonderfully eventful Saturday nights. Today I did do something I thought I would never ever do. I rode on a moto! Here are some pictures from the day! Amber and I with our coffee. Some of the beautiful flowers. Subscribe to: ...

http://jillrutz.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

A Heart For Haitian Minds. Saturday, September 29, 2012. Friday a few of us spent the night up in the mountains. It was incredibly refreshing to spend time away from the city enjoying God's creation. Blessed by great friends here in Haiti. Breakfast over the fire. I was reminded of my need to rest in who is Jesus and find strength in the God of the universe! The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7. God is teaching m...

Echoes of Haiti: Happy Week Birthday!

http://www.irenepruitt.com/2013/07/happy-week-birhday.html

Friday, July 5, 2013. Welcome to our family, beloved little one. I remember with such fondness the first time I spoke those words of welcome to you, in late September of last year. Since then, you have grown in our hearts just as you were growing in my womb. And now, finally, the time has come for us to gaze at your beautiful face and to hold your precious body in our arms. Welcome, welcome, welcome. On June 27, you were born, and today, on the Fourth of July, you are a week old. This story is one that I...

Echoes of Haiti: December 2012

http://www.irenepruitt.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 2, 2012. First Sunday: Passionate Waiting. What a blessing to start the Advent season with them, and share the following Advent reflection. Today is the first Sunday of Advent, one of my very favorite seasons of the church year—the four weeks leading up to Christmas. Advent is a season that reminds us that we are a part of a story of passionate waiting. Passionate waiting for something very, very good. One of the first people who comes to mind is Mary. Today, we heard the words of the pr...

Echoes of Haiti: So loved

http://www.irenepruitt.com/2013/07/so-loved.html

Tuesday, July 16, 2013. From the time we knew we were expecting you, and even before that, we loved you. We loved the dream of you. We loved your growing, forming body. We loved feeling your kicks and squirms in my belly. We loved the knowledge that you were ours. And since your birth, we have fallen even more in love with you in ways that we couldn’t have imagined. We fell in love with your eyes, gazing steadily into ours. And your soft baby skin and even softer baby hair. Of their great grandchildren.

Echoes of Haiti: August 2012

http://www.irenepruitt.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 12, 2012. Going back and forth between Haiti and the United States often comes with a jolt. One of the first times I experienced this was when Robbie and I headed back to Virginia and South Carolina over our Christmas break last year. We had just finished our first semester of teaching and guidance counseling at Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince, and were bubbling with excitement to see our families again. Our time in the States was wonderful and refreshing. I had to chuckle to ...

Amber's Alerts From Life in Haiti: October 2012

http://alertsfromamber.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 9, 2012. This year we haven’t done a whole lot of that. I’m not sure why exactly. Lack of motor vehicles is a big factor, but maybe we are just tired. A couple weekends ago though, we got out. The city was just too much for too long. Too much smog. Too much trash. Too much burning. Trash Too much dirt and dust and heat. Too much noise. Too much! And it was cold! Tasty dinner even without a campfire. View from the cabin early in the morning. Yes there is destruction and unimaginable pover...

Thursday, May 24, 2012. I have the whine-virus this week and it’s starting to get to me. Being back in the states last weekend messed up my groove. I experience fast internet, reliable electricity, and the all-around awesomeness of predictable first-world life. But this week has kinda sucked. If you are a blog “skimmer” and haven’t been reading all the details above, let me sum it up for you: I’ve been a big, smelly, whiner all week long.). Jill Ruth & Co.

Jill Ruth and Co. Old Things: Pretty Things: God Things. Thursday, March 29, 2018. It's Holy Thursday. After Mass tonight will be a time of adoration. The Blessed Sacrament is moved to the side altar as the main altar has been stripped at the end of Mass. We are asked to come back and sit in adoration. The way I understand it, this is the time that we are the disciples who sit with Jesus as he prays in the Garden of Gethsemane. The church is dim except for the lights on the side altar. When my time is do...
