Those ten years | Jim Colbert's Blog

https://jimcolbert.wordpress.com/2015/10/04/those-ten-years

Jim Colbert's Blog. Trying to touch the light. October 4, 2015. Those ten years left me numb. A dent in my finger. And a heart void of remorse. That quiet complacency was as stifling. As one too many blankets and. Windows shut tightly on a late spring evening. I ached to kick my feet out from those blankets. To smash the glass,. To feel the ice-hot stab of those. Jagged shards embedding in my skin. To purge my chest of that stagnant air,. Stale as week old bread,. To let my lungs drink in,. And so I did.

Honesdale and Tie Dye | Jim Colbert's Blog

https://jimcolbert.wordpress.com/2015/09/13/honesdale-and-tie-dye

Jim Colbert's Blog. Trying to touch the light. Honesdale and Tie Dye. September 13, 2015. I wrote this back in 2012 as a Facebook note. It seemed worth sharing again. I headed up to Honesdale, PA, Saturday to spend some time with my dear friend Scott Ainslie. You’ve heard me speak of Scott before; depending who I tag here, you may know Scott yourself, or know how much of an inspiration and friend he has been to me. A lady was inside, watching TV, with her granddaughter… she’s maybe ten?

Nicer cars | Jim Colbert's Blog

https://jimcolbert.wordpress.com/2015/10/29/nicer-cars

Jim Colbert's Blog. Trying to touch the light. October 29, 2015. There were fires that year up on the mountain. Charring the Jeffrey pines and cedars,. And leaving an acrid smell lingering. Just under the breeze. Maybe there were fires in us, too. Thirsting for the heavy, cooling towel. Of time and forgiveness. To envelope and quench them. We watched the candy apple red LSC pull. Away, polished twin tailpipes whispering. White vapor into the cool air. The tales of squandered inheritances.

foothills | Jim Colbert's Blog

https://jimcolbert.wordpress.com/2016/01/30/untitled

Jim Colbert's Blog. Trying to touch the light. January 30, 2016. January 30, 2016. These foothills, January desperate,. White brush strokes clinging to tan garage roofs,. Caterpillar tracks filled with coffee-colored mud. And melting snow, roads. Leading to quarries that push against backyards. I am inexorably drawn to. These things that destroy me. Fuck the moth and the flame,. Rather the razor wire of empty chairs,. The jagged scars of one-way streets,. The barely-noticed and the smitten.

About | Jim Colbert's Blog

https://jimcolbert.wordpress.com/about

Jim Colbert's Blog. Trying to touch the light. This started as a periodic blog about design, typography, illustration and other thoughts dealing primarily with graphic design. It didn’t get very far. I think I’m going to evolve it into poetry, writing, music and musings. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. Thursday, June 11, 2009. Friday, 5 June. The final day of my trip went well. I got up and out only loosing track of my Passport twice; once before I was quite awake - it was in my pocket but the zip-pocket had flipped up so I could not feel upon and external search. The second time was in PDX when I accidentally put it into my backpack as I re-inserted my notebook and later was frantic looking for it. Saturday, June 6, 2009. Friday, 5 June. In my own bed. Thursday, June 4, 2009. Thursday, 4 June. Most pe...

Ongoing update begun 29 June 2016). Well, that was a rush! It looks like the last real update was, um, 15 December, 2012! Sorry about that- life has a way of getting in the way of what we might choose to do. Anyhow, the recent series of crashes (August 2015-June 2016) have me scrambling to re-build the site and do some much needed updating. This is going to be sort of a "rolling restoration" and will take ssome time. If "Life is what happens when you make other plans," I guess this section is "life".
